@@dogeneedsthetea4569 same. Same. He is absolutely amazing. He was the real star if you ask me. He didn’t even get top billing on the dvd cover. Disappointing. I know Alice Cooper is Alice Cooper but he was in it for like 5 mins.

Brandon’s performance was stunning. The absolute highlight in the show.

These are the coolest backup singers EVER!

They did everything right with this production, start to finish. It must have been thrilling to see in person.

Completely agree that it must have been thrilling to be there. Not in a single shot did I catch ANYONE on that stage not giving 150%. So many people taking such pride in their craft. They were on fire!

Having grown up on the 1973 movie, I think it's almost impossible to top Carl Anderson, but Brandon Victor Dixon did a fabulous job. Can't say the same for John Legend whose voice and acting wasn't even close to be good enough for that iconic role. Of all the great singers, I have to wonder why he was picked?

This performance by Brandon Victor Dixon made me a believer.

Best TV musical production I've ever seen. I would've given anything to have been in the audience.

And he killed Jesus as well - that sop John Legend... couldn't hold a candle to this rock tenor. Legend has a gospel voice - he shouldn't have tried to do this rock show. He failed miserably. And then he won that award - because he's the executive producer, and the show producers, in conjunction with his record company, obviously had a marketing strategy to make Legend look like he was a winner. What a fucken gyp! THAT alone should prove there's no god.

This show was practically perfect in every way! I thought everyone was brilliant. Legend’s Gethsemane performance was stellar. Sarah was magic. Brandon was pure soul. Alice was, well, Alice. The show far-surpasses any other live televised production then and now. I can’t believe it didn’t get more accolades.

He freaking nailed it!

Thanks for posting this footage! It’s so cool to be able to see it from this other perspective rather than what was shown on the live TV broadcast.

BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE WHOLE SHOW, I LOVE IT

I was glad to see a televised version in 2018. It seems eons ago that we had this kind of freedom: to view live theater sans restrictions.

It really is a spectacular performance, no mater ones belief.

This was so good. This guy killed it! Great cast. John, Sarah, etc.... The whole cast was great. Alice Cooper delivered!!!!

So many of these performances fell flat for me, but i think Brandon Victor Dixon really killed this part. He's definitely a baritenor and not the kind of tenor this part requires but he really made up for it with strong choices and wonderful acting. Also this ensemble cast is fantastic!!! They definitely helped improve some of the weaker numbers and brought even more to the good ones

You do not need to be a tenor to sing this song, its all about that 70s rock voice. You got that grit and a a solid belt and you're set, just like BVD; unlike Jesus which really requires a solid rock tenor to do it justice, not a baritone like Legend, though he did what he could.

I KNEW he looked familiar, just couldn't put my finger on it! He played Terry Silver on Power!

BVD was freakin’ AWESOME in this! That scene before he offed himself, when he realized what he did…man, that tore me up!

Man, Brandon should've played Jesus, but I understand Legend brings in the views.

I’m so mad they took the a-cappella guitar version video off KZread where they were singing this during rehearsal… Absolutely amazing! They have some of the most amazing voices I’ve ever heard. I love this song…

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!

This is awesome! I would've loved to be there live! Although, seeing it from this view really highlights the people who were hired more for singing versus dancing. If you look closely, the stronger dancers tend to be downstage and/or on the outer perimeter of the group whilst the weaker ones stay upstage and center. (Mostly behind BVD) until he moves upstage and more chorus performers fill in the center. Very cool to see and be able to appreciate the staging as a whole.

Amazing performance, shame his name isn’t on the Album cover.

All I want from any filmed musical is a wide shot so I can actually see the dancers. I would have rather watch the entire production from this angle. Honestly, who frames a shot to cut off dancers' feet?!? So that k you for posting this! I would have loved to see the behind the scenes production aspects of this. Fantastic!
