No of course not, you do what you do (which is an amazing job with amazing videos) and let others do what they do. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. There is always going to be someone who believes they know better than you but hey, that’s their choice.

I don't remember ever seeing one of those things without heavy brake dust all over the front wheels, both because people overload them, and, as any OTR trucker can tell you, they drive them way too fast. 45 MPH limit on the trailers, for example, clearly doesn't mean them.

I wonder if this falls into the category of "Oh Shit" on the part of THAT driver? Curious, why would they say no impact wrenches. only torque? Are they afraid the nuts will come loose and fall off?

Pretty much! Impacts are notorious for either tightening things too tight, or not enough! If you have ever had a wheel nut you could not get loose, it was probably put on with a impact! The same if you have ever had one come loose, unless you put them on by hand and forgot to tighten them! 🫢 Oops!

Also over torquing lugs can damage the stud, lug or wheel. You can also warp the rotor and hub.

I think you should put a zip tie on your rim sling just so you can say, " see, I didn't need that" every time you use it! Great video....except for when it wasn't! (missing footage!)

If that u-haul is as unevenly (poorly) loaded as it looks, it's going to be a bit dicey taking it back to where it needs to go for salvage. Best of luck with that chore, and please be careful.

If it was legally rented, uhaul will empty the contents into a storage unit for you after an accident. Though idk if that happens with a DUI. Happened to a buddy when a trailer shredded a tire and rolled onto its side. They wouldn't let him empty it at the accident. They took the whole trailer back. Itemized the contents, emptied it into a storage unit. They had someone there when he retrieved them and documented anything that was damaged. They paid for everything damaged, including the uhaul cardboard boxes.

Over 40 years ago, I rented a 24' U-Haul to move from IL to AZ. I had so much weight that 1.5" of the rear mud flaps were ground away. Same truck got 4.5 mpg whether loaded or unloaded. There is along hill from Camp Verde to Phoenix where my top speed was 17mph, in 2nd gear. I could wind it out and go 20mph, bang 3rd, but it would just slow down. It was a very long trip!

That climb out of Verde Valley is horrendous. But for as long as I can remember, we call the climb from Black Canyon City to Sunset Point "U-haul hill" for all the slow trucks on it.

Casey, if you didn’t already know, you can adjust the power level on the impact. The setting it’s on only gives you all the beans when it senses tension. There’s a button to adjust it to a higher power level for all the beans all the time.

Casey ,I watch you, Murphy's Diesel,Ron Platt ,Plaza Towing, Everything Auto just to see the various ways that they implement during the recovery work that they do ,in most I believe most are on the same page ,and the most important thing is how as a operator you all think and approach the job . The key must be in how you guys explain the reasons why The good thing is that many towing operators will watch and make comments or suggestions. What I see as the most difficult issue is training the newbies, and how much one has to constantly explain and direct those newbies into clear thinking. And yes we are not there on scene,a view on screen is very different in most cases

I can say with quite a bit of certainy that truck is filled with a set of mechanics tools. I helped my friend who's a diesel mecahnic move from kansas to michigan, we used the biggest truck u-haul offers, it was one of the newer ford ones. We had all his mechanics tools and all his personal stuff stuffed into it. I drove the u-haul the entire way and i could tell pretty quicklly we overloaded the thing. We made it, but i dont recommend it. I almost rear-endeded him in his pickup when we came over a hill that had a red light at the bottom. Both feet as hard as i could on the break peddle and it barely came to a stop.

If that's the same impact gun I have just turn it on three instead of that special fourth mode if you don't like it going slow. But it is nice when lug nuts are stuck in the socket. It slows down to give you time to use the stud to yank the lug out of the socket.
