Great master salute for her first visit to Duluth Harbor. Remember, you only have one chance to make a good impression...📣⚓👍

Thanks ✌
I love to see these ships enter, or exit, Duluth when you have these spectacular skies. They add so much to the view of the ship gliding through the canal, under the bridge and into the harbor. They aren't easy to catch, but when it works out, it's like a beautiful painting in motion. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

Couldn't agree more!, thank you!
Fantastic Ship😊
A great salute and a nice ship
Looks like she had already kissed some dock/lock walls. It's officially a working ship after the first scuff mark.

LOL, True statement!
She’s still got that new ship smell on her! A very nice master salute, great horn. Thanks Paul. 👍🏼

Looks like she “traded some paint” already. That’s quite a smudge on her port side.

@@mplsmark222 Lock rash? 😀
How funny! I just happened to have the marine radio on and heard this banter live.

Awesome!
Interesting that there's no bulbous bow, I kinda thought that was the hydrodynamic standard for salties these days
@PaulScinocca

I think its her "ice class" rating that makes that bow the way it is.

Ah, that would make sense.
This is SO good to see. Will be heading up your way soon.
Nice crisp horn
Thanks Paul! Is there a Duluth harbor pilot on board?
@PaulScinocca

There is, each ocean freighter (saltie) in US or Canadian Waters must have a licensed Great Lakes Pilot on board.
Very good work.
I’ll visit this year I hope

Sweet!
Why do the salutes vary? Sometimes 1 long & 2 short. Sometimes 3 long & 2 short. Any other versions?
@PaulScinocca
Ай бұрын
1 L 2S is the Captains Salute, most common. Think of it as a non formal hello. 3L 2S is the master salute, more of a formal greeting. Some ships also do a variation of these, another we hear a few times a year is the 5 short, meaning, emergency, get out of my way. We hear this when a boat is in the path of the laker.

@@PaulScinocca thank you. I hope to never hear the 5 short
The cort is on her way to superior she’s not even halfway there, just want to let you know, she has that fresh new paint
Is she going to be a "laker" or just general purpose. Lovely clean paintwork still.

Ocean Freighter that can be on the Great Lakes. Currently she is just outside of Delaware on the East Coast.
