Thank you Kris! I've watched your well narrated and useful video several times to get the tools prepared, the motions/ sequence just right. You've saved me $$$ and time. The dealership nearby was asking $299 for the front brake pads replacement. Another $299 for the rear pads. No, thank you! Akebono pads for front and rear were less than $99 online, tax and delivery. Like you mentioned, with the right tools, I was done in 2hr 15 mins. My 4th Gen TL brakes feels more responsive and stops better. Lots of appreciation from Orange County, CA

A good explanation and good video. Just a couple of issues to be careful of. 1. Make absolutely sure that you do not get ANY of the grease you used on the brake pad surface (the part that contacts the rotor). It causes heat buildup that can damage the rotor and make the brakes less effective. 2. When I went to school for mechanics they taught us that you should only use a tiny amount of grease on the places mentioned in the video because more grease will attract and hold more dirt and actually cause the pads to have a harder time sliding in the channels.

Great job Kris! The only thing I might add would be to lightly grease the caliper bolts. Lubricate the bottom ones while you have them out and then do the top ones after you put the bottom bolts back in. This would help to insure that the caliper slides smoothly back and forth.

I just bought a 2014 Acura TL Feb 2013 so I am new to the channel. Very good brake tutorial with wise tips and tricks throughout. I spent 7.5 years in Japan w/ a wife from Japan and the brand Akebono (Sumo name of Grand Champion Yokozuna Chad Rowan of HI). Akebono Brake Industry Co is as expected a company with HQ offices in Tokyo and Hanyu City, Santana Prefecture. Akebono provides OEM brakes for many Asian vehicles but also has mfg facilities in the USA which is a reason for reliability and availability. Japanese pronounce Akebono (Awe-Kay-Bo-No).

You may add cleaning caliper slide pins and reapplying new caliper slide pin silicone paste such as 3M Silicone Paste (silicone lubricant) because it will not beak down rubber products (slide pin accordion style boots). It the slide pins run out of silicone paste lubricant the brakes can get stuck.

Hi Kris Nice video.. However there is a conflict of Caliper guide bolt torque specs.. In the beginning of video, you state the Factory guide book says "Front Caliper guide bolts. @ 36 Ft-lbs torque, and rear @ 17 Ft-lbs torque. Then once you are at the part of actually torquing them. You say Front @ 53 Ft-lbs, and Rear @ 16 Ft-lbs. Thanks Steven

@@diceflawless9115 I've used factory jacks to change tires and they work well for that--because you are never under your car. However, changing pads you may have to crawl under your car to reach a bolt etc. and use excessive force to loosen bolts and such. With all the tugging, I don't think factory jacks are safe enough to go under a car.
