My father died from cirrhosis at age 50 when I was about 8... I swore off alcohol when I was a teenager, rarely drinking but I got into drugs...bad ones, I started drinking heavily by the time I was 19-20... progressed into drinking in the am alone...... almost died multiple times and alcohol always was the catalyst for such situations. I have a 5 yr old and don't wanna die from liver failure or cirrhosis at age 34... One day at a time guys, one day at a time. 💪✌️

@Dandy Chiggins omgoodness that's amazing and soooo good for you!!! ♡ I'm really proud of you m'dear and good luck overcoming those next two things. I think I'm at the point where I just have absolutely no desire to use or drink anymore I rarely get cravings anymore...but it took me 15 years to get here and I've been to jail and lived on the streets so in just sooo grateful to finally have some routine and normalcy in my life...not to mention having my family back. I wont purposely be around it but if I am I'm able to manage however I have a rough time even just leaving my home right now. I guess we are all at different stages and the important thing to remember is to accept where you are even if you et stuck or go back a few steps especially if you're protecting your sobriety and mental health. I used to live bragging that I was clean and sober but now I realize that recovery is even bigger and better than those two things atleast for me that is. I've had people say they can see the recovery in my eyes and on my face...couldn't think of a better compliment than that eh!!! Lotsa love your way darlin ♡

Good for Brad having the courage to own his drinking problem and conquer it. It takes guts and character to do so. Dr. Ashton correctly references the roughly 5% of American Adults who exhibit symptoms of Alcohol Use Disorder. But national surveys also indicate that over 30% of American Adults drink above Recommended Moderate Guidelines. Not all drinking problems are created equal, but they can ALL do damage. So I continue to ask...if 30 days off from drinking is good, why stop at 30?
