Great reaction! “Those expensive chords” love it!!! The collaborations between so many smooth artists in the late 70’s, early 80’s was fantastic; Steely Dan, Michael MacDonald, Boz Scaggs, TOTO, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross; what a golden period for music; lots of crossing between smooth jazz, yacht (soft) rock and R&B. Not to mention that we also had the beginnings of hip hop, great rock music, alternative; great era ❤

Boz Scaggs and Steely Dan actually toured together for a short period ot time and became good friends. Later they, along with Michael McDonald, performed as "The Dukes of September." Great reacition, guys. I myself did not compare Boz with some of the work of Steely Dan. I agree that there are certainly some similarities. Most notably the bridges and the backup singers. Both Boz and Dan had that "Tower of Power" and "Earth Wind and Fire" sound as well.

Besides the Toto connection - song produced by Bill Schnee. Besides the total pro that Boz Scaggs is, his producer has worked with a who's who in the industry. Before ProTools, there were simply pros. From Schnee's wiki --- "Schnee has recorded and mixed with a wide variety of artists that include Steely Dan, Chicago, Ringo (with all the Beatles), Natalie Cole, Rod Stewart, Dire Straits, Whitney Houston, Carly Simon, The Pointer Sisters, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Barry Manilow, Michael Bolton, The Jacksons, Mark Knopfler, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Marvin Gaye, George Benson, Bette Midler, and Amy Grant. As a producer, Schnee has worked with Boz Scaggs, Joe Sample, Thelma Houston, Kiki Dee, and launched the careers of Huey Lewis and the News and Pablo Cruise."

"Expensive chords," you've got it. A little of that here, but the Dan was the master of such. They did back off a bit on Gaucho, but those pricey chords abound. Scaggs, the master of smooth, the potentate of power pop. Great stuff.

A lot of shared studio musicians with Steely. Another artist from the 70's ad 80's in the same genre is Michael Franks. Waiting on more Dan . . . the Master class in groove "Time out of Mind" (Gaucho).
Great song!! ❤️
"Expensive chords," you've got it. A little of that here, but the Dan was the master of such. They did back off a bit on Gaucho, but those pricey chords abound. Scaggs, the master of smooth, the potentate of power pop. Great stuff.
There were even shades of Gino Vannelli here. You guys would love Gino. I’m not sure anyone else wil mention him cuz he falls through the cracks on reaction videos, but make a note and try People Gotta Move, or Brother to Btother. Ask dad if he remembers😉.
The official video for this from back in late 70s and the live performance in 2004 are both worth the watch for you own enjoyment, even if you don't stream a reaction. Good tunes.
I love me some Boz;...smooth cat
Contemporary and Pop back in my day. The 1980’s. I was a teenager in the 80’s. Buzz Scaggs was my JAM !
Aww yeah 🤘🤘
Pure gold!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 that sax!! 🤍
I’ve seen “The BOZ” Live 3 times. Always an awesome show. The Ladies throw their underwear on stage every time.
Great reaction guys !!! Thanks for not sleeping on "Jojo" !! Too many reactors have missed this one !!!
boz and steely dan both used a few of the same session guys, and chris is right about the toto connection, they went to grant hi (toto) in van nuys ca, same time i did. big fan to this day.
It’s hard to go wrong with Toto and Boz Scaggs. This album was of a time when sooo many genres were fusing into very classy, rhythmic, funky, danceable music. I really miss this music. A crime that the kids today don’t know this music. Another great recommendation on your channel. ❤🔥👍
Everyone is influenced by those that came before them.
Miss Sun, Some things Happen, Ask me nothing about the blues. My favorite Boz Scaggs songs. Please please react to one of these. Or all of these!!
Love, Love,Love!
Woo hoo! Great artist! Please do What Can I Say by Boz Scaggs if you get the opportunity! Thanks!
you should watch the live version...amazing.
Great Reaction one of my favorites. We didn’t know what Boz Scaggs or Steely Dan was just knew it sounded Great!
Backup singers are reminiscent of Steve Winwood backup.singers. Soulful Sisters
Gentlemen, for another side of Boz check out "Love Look What You've Done To Me" from the soundtrack of "Urban Cowboy". All smooth & romantic, a special one for us ladies. 💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙
I could not react earlier, it is absolutely necessary that you do: by Boz Scaggs!🔥🔥 Loan Me A Dim,live at Great American music Hall 2003!!!! Thank you for the good times spent with you!

I know you did the 69 version with Duane Allman but this version is really good, I mean really!, Boz's voice is even better over the years
Given your appreciation for jazz-influenced soft rock, y’all need to hear Moondance by Van Morrison.
wow first time hearing this Boz number, definitely sounding like a Georgy Porgy prototype
Gents,do yourselves a solid and check out Marcin, you will amazed by his playing. He may fall in line with what you play but he is worth checking out 🎶🎶 Enjoyed the reaction.
Love this tune, I find it hilarious that is so, so good and about a straight pimp...
BOZ also does some great blues songs as well. Try LOAN ME A DIME - with DUANE ALLMAN - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYh62KOvo6upj7w.html LITTLE MISS NIGHT AND DAY - kzread.info/dash/bejne/gHuamNaLfJm8ZdY.html RADIATOR 110 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aauNwdycdsrWm6g.html I'VE JUST GOT TO FORGET YOU - kzread.info/dash/bejne/iKaYqdeFgNO1aZs.html
Since you guys are SF, Slim’s is Boz’s club named after his nickname.
I put this song in the category of "biography songs" along with Bix (Airplay) and Glamour Profession (Steely Dan). Songs that celebrated certain characters while subtly warning against becoming them. All while JAMMING.
anything with JP on drums, always good TOTO were on eveything worth listening to in the 8o's
Sounds a little like Toto's Georgie porgie, not surprised considering it's them without Boz.
This is kind of crazy, looking up personnel on JoJo along with Toto, is Ray Parker Jr. Of Ghostbusters fame on keyboards
Boz Scaggs, Donald Fagan and Michael McDonald tour together under the Bots of September
How about Harbor Lights and Sierra.
How bout that bass !
You really should do Loan Me A Dime, the studio version has Duane Allman playing guitar, when he was a studio musician in Muscle Shoals, before The Allman Brothers

@@taradevine6026 that they do, one of the very few reactors that have done any of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, would like their reaction to Bound For Glory, the live in Atlanta version, will explain why if/when they do it
Check out the video on this one.
Smooooth like Marvin Gaye ,and Nat king Cole.
Boz Scaggs, Michael McDonald, Steely Dan (with or without Michael), The Box Tops, INXS (you gotta check them out as I am 69 and this is 90s stuff), many others....prove that some of us did have soul. 🙂

All of us have soul
Typical Jeff Porcaro groove. I believe this is what they call ”in the pocket” drumming…
Toto IMO was never better (Silk Degrees, Middleman) than when they WERE the Boz Scaggs band and co-song writers.
You guys haven't sampled Steve Miller yet. He has many great R&B tunes as well. Crazy about my Mercury is one I love. Please check it out.
Great reaction, guys! Give "Loan Me A Dime" with Duane Allman a listen!!
Try Running Blues from early Boz.

We did some early Boz with Duane Allman.
Great damn bass on that ! The bottom of the groove is the creation of life ! Lol, it’s not as prevalent these days, shame, all the great funk/ R&B songs highlight it more !
the Boz stole someToto players for this track too just like with "Lowdown"
Everyone is a session plarey.mossly the drummer.
Steve Lukather
React to pat benatar! Shits fire
If bozs band how come his music sounds so good and totos sucks is it just the vocals maybe toto meeded david pack
