Boy Adopted by Cop Who Saved Him From Murderous Dad

At just 8 years old, Ronnie survived being stabbed 20 times and set on fire by his father, who was later convicted of murdering the boy’s mom and sister. When he was recovering in the hospital, he got a visit from Hillsborough County Sheriff Mike Blair, and Ronnie asked Mike to watch a movie. Danyel Blair, who became Ronnie’s mom, says that she’d already known that they wanted to take Ronnie home with them that night. Five months later, the Blair family grew from seven to eight when they adopted Ronnie.

Yeah I dont think it was a big decision at all i think that detective knew that poor child was a miracle to be alive and didn't want him to go through any more pain by not having a caring family to be with. I think that detective automatically knew after seeing the poor heartbreak that baby witnessed and endured that he needed to show him that a father is supposed to love and protect their kids. I think it was an easy decision, if i was in the detectives shoes it would had been an easy decision for me and i would had done the same as he did.

As a black child who was adopted by a white family, this broke and healed my heart. My biological mom did several hard drugs when she was pregnant with me. My parents met me at a month old because they knew the foster parent at the time. My parents looked at her and said “This is gonna be our daughter”. They went to the prison my mom was in at the time and asked her permission to adopt me. 🎉Adopted me at a year and i’m now 21. I don’t know where i’d be without them. They had 3 sons already and they loved me more than anything . Only have 1 sibling alive now but i’ll always be grateful to have found my forever family 🤍.
