Karen you said you get rid of dishes with chips, woah, I'm always looking for broken China, hard to find because I don't want to buy it and break it. Maybe you can make packages and sell the broken China, packing would be easy doesn't matter if it breaks. There is so many ideas on pinterest I'd love to try with the older children I work with. Creativity is so important in lives of children but finding materials is hard to find so broken dishes would be a great addition to us creative people. Just a thought, stay healthy and thanks for sharing your time in this unusual times

Paula, it was so sweet of you to reference Dr Lori in an effort to help Karen or we viewers to possibly learn more about that item. I saw someone suggest seeking Dr.Lori's expertise about an item on crazy lamp lady channel and both cll and her sidekick Sue were terribly disrespected about Dr. Lori and told the viewer "WE DONT NEED DR LORI". That is so unnecessary. I find it so refreshing that Karen even liked your comment whether she needed help or not. That is called: humble! Karen is confident but never unkind or arrogant. I appreciate this so much.
I paused at "packing peanuts". I have for the past 5 years used cut up brown shipping box layers between bubble wrapped plates. Never had damage. I despise peanuts and their non-biodegradable-ness. They also shift position. So, over time I have found that corrugated box sections are really quite remarkable in terms of breakage. I even sent myself an experiment package of dishes with ONLY cardboard wrapping. NO breakage. And my inventory of boxes comes from my local grocery chain and dollar store. win-win.

You could use a small jig saw. Layer the corrugated sides and cut strips almost to the end. Once enough slits have been cut. Take the open edge and cut across. The pieces would fall beneath you so just have a Sterilite box to catch the pieces.

You could always ask a store that you frequent a lot that gets inventory in, if they could save the packing peanuts for you. I worked at a store and I would try and snag them for my husband company or else they just ended in the trash :-(
Love china. Have 4 sets, one was inherited. Wore out my own Johnson Bros. Colonial set, chipped so easily, dinner plates too small, so --- in 2017 bought myself an Ebay/Noritake set of wildflowers, true name escapes me right now. I live in the woods of NW. A 12 service for $199 w serving pieces, to celebrate 40th yr as an RN. Use it everyday. Can't microwave this due to silver rim. My dishwasher has a china setting, 1/2 as long as other cycle I used to use. Works perfectly, no design fading. The shipper did a great job and I think I bought it cuz it was free shipping. Bless her. Bless Karen and Mell.

I have been told it is not the 'dishwasher' that does the damage to the China, it is actually the dishwasher soap. The dishwasher detergent is very abrasive.
I just wanted you to know that you have very informative information. I really appreciate you sharing/teaching us how this is done. This past weekend I went to my first thrift store for reselling items. It was very confusing but after watching many thrifters on KZread I have to say I’ve learned the most from you. I’m taking a lot of notes from you. Thank you so much!

You are a superb teacher when it comes to reselling. Thank you.
When it comes to determining the purpose of a piece (dessert plate? bread and butter plate?) I find that Replacements Ltd. is an invaluable resource. They are good at identifying the manufacturer's name for the piece. I will list the manufacturer's name for the piece first and then other possible uses for the piece afterwards.
Those fish plates are very desirable for Christmas Eve celebration of the seven fishes for Italians.
That tall "teapot" is probably a coffe pot..
Great video. Our house is rather casual on a daily basis, but during the holidays we still eat off fine China. I'm always on the lookout for additional pieces, as I have my grandmother's 1940s set.
"Bone china is a type of porcelain of bone ash, feldspathic material, and kaolin. It has been defined as "ware with a translucent body" containing a minimum of 30% of phosphate derived from animal bone (cow bone in particular, although in rare cases you could be eating off of a plate made from a dead person), and calculated calcium phosphate. Bone china is the strongest of the porcelain or china ceramics, having very high mechanical and physical strength and chip resistance, and is known for its high levels of whiteness and translucency."

Dishes and kitchen wares are my favorite things to pick up and sell. I am the exact opposite. I don’t sell clothes or shoes and just can’t get myself comfortable with it. I love your discussions of why you buy the clothes and shoes you resell though!
Love watching you!!! Learn a lot from you!!! Great video!!! Love from Texas!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I adored this one..I would love to find an estate selling at that price...thanks for sharing with us such beautiful finds and even though not your favorite...selling them and packing them carefully. I adore teacups and china and just think all tableware and glass for decor and use is beautiful...but oh do I hear you. When my mom passed I went over board on teacups/teapots and still dealing with what keeping and what selling . My mom's danish dishes probably from that same German blue era eventually crazed at the very end...I am so glad she had a special use of them one more time when I moved back before she passed for Thanksgiving, There is the heart of a woman and a family in thse dishes,,,usually...and they just touch me..a horrible mailing to me story from a new seller once on Etsy during this craze...she/seller just layered /nestled them in box what was she thinking? She had no concept so they arrived beautifully tagged but ruined...a lovely 40's set...finally turned it over to Visa...she just would not deal..and I did not want to ruin her future there just get money back....to find something you adore and then to just get them like that...it is not as much the money..as the sadness in loss of something so cool...I also once had someone mail me a long searched for teapot in a big ball..a big bubble wrap ball....and it arrived perfectly. Much love and continued success to you and all here..this time too shall pass..you are positive, creative, helpful and just beautiful...inside and out...thanks.

Beautiful beautiful dishes. Omgosh I would've picked those up also. I have a set I won at an auction, still packed up in storage. Its limoges and idk how many pieces, probably over 100. I love the blue on yours. Is it transferware? Kind of seems like it but absolutely gorgeous. I'm jelly but love seeing what u find.
Sets of China are never priced that low in Phoeniix, neither at thrifts or estates. Salt cellars might be sauce bowls.
You do an amazing job with packing so thought you might appreciate this tip: when packing plates, DON'T stack them...ship them vertical. Much less chance of breakage:)
I sell china pieces is place settings, amounts of 4. etc. Since the younger generation is not so much into mom's and grandma's china, the demand is more for people who want to replace or add pieces to their existing sets. I have many sales where people are buying for their friends. I amazed by how many right now are buying after the holidays.
Thank you for this shipping information
such beautiful china...love it all. good luck Karen
Hi Karen, I have my grandmother's gorgeous Noritake china set for 12 that I inherited and it is precious to me since we used that china set every Sunday for our big Italian dinners. I cringe too, thinking about packing it to ship. I moved it from NJ to NC when I moved down here and I want to return home at some point but probably will have to pack it carefully and drive it home. All I can say is Ugh, no! Well, it gives me time to think about it. Great video as usual! Hugs, Pat

So beautiful! In my country there aren't such incredible bargains, and china is expensive!
We use these little plates to serve jams, jellies, puddings and other desserts.

Yes they're called a salt cellar.
Maybe the little dishes would hold used tea bags?
You might consider selling the damaged China in lots for crafts. People use for different projects like table tops, stepping stones etc.
the tiny plate may be a butter pat dish.
I love good china, but am kind of over it not being dishwasher safe. However, it’s gorgeous and I’d buy it! It’s beautiful!
I always seperate plates by styrofoam plates on bottom and top of every one before bubble wrapping.
The little dishes usually used for olives.
Have you ever considered auction houses? I inherited all of my great Aunts China. She had over 10 complete sets plus additional pieces. Mi kept what I loved and looked at eBay comps which were not great. Many were limoge sets , occupied Japan, and most were marked. No ended up going with an auction house that sold most of sets together. I literally received thousands even with the auction house cut. Nit was well worth it. Nt he auction house told me I could sell on eBay, but replacement sites were better, but would make much less. They were right in my case. Now probably isn't the best time, but for me it worked out consulting the experts who knew every little thing about China and dishes in general.
This you many know but if you meet the owner of your local UPS Store, they can pack and ship sets of dishes, lamps and other large and/or fragile items using their materials at a cost that may appeal to you and others. When they do this service and ship, any damages or loss will be on them. They handle everything including claims. Might be totally worth it to secure your shipments and redeem your time. If you do this, please video your journey. A secondary advantage is supporting local businesses.

Those are most likely waste bowls. Salt cellars are usually glass in my experience. Could be butter pats but it look a little large and this china doesn’t look old enough to have those.
Love your channel! New subscriber!
The small dish could be a butter plate, There are ppl that collect them especially if there ironstone.
I love your top and earrings.
Those triangular dishes could be for butter pats.
Hi Karen! I love what you do. I would love to start. Can you or your daughter do a few tutorials to help us clueless beginners?
Great show
You are cracking me up right now!!!
Hey Karen. Great video, as always! I think the small triangle dishes may be called a fingertip bowl. Used for cleaning one's fingers...as any proper lady and gentleman would do...as opposed to licking them! Gross, I know! 🤣 Hey. The use could resurface due to this pandemic! Stay safe and isolate!
When you pack plates you should not stack them, they need to be wrapped as you said but then put in a padded box and then turned on their edges. They are much less likely to break when placed on their edges. When you stack them they are much more likely to break. I first learned this when I moved and the movers packed my dishes. If they get stacked under other heavy boxes they are much stronger sideways than flat.

Could the little "waste" bowl be a finger bowl for formal dinners?
I love all your videos, but this one could not be more perfectly timed. Because everything is closed, I watched an online auction last night (first time) and bought an entire case of antique glass & china. It was less than $30 so it will be an inexpensive learning experience. Thanks for all you do for the reselling community!

Those tiny bowls are for holding pats of butter.
I doubt that the tiny bowls would be for teabags. When this service was made teabags weren't invented. I'm in my 70s and when I was young we still used loose tea. 😊 Most likely they were salt cellars or finger bowls. Possibly also for jam or butter pats. I recall posh ladies' tea times using such little bowls for the individual butter and jam portions to go with scones and such. 😉
Safi: triangular bowls might be for butter pats. The large bowl might be for bread rolls or potatoes. The multi-colored narrow tray might be for loaf slices of bread or slices of meat like meat loaf. If you want more information about glassware, China, pottery, I have another youtuber’s name in a Indiana. I’ll get right back to you. He posts videos all the time. I’ll be right back.
Pretty!

Hi! Loved this video! Thanks! I recently closed my biz of renting vintage mismatched china for weddings/parties. I bought whole sets at auction. So cheap!!!! But now I want to get rid of them FAST! I’ve sold 1 whole set on eBay (shipped-won’t to that again) and 1 whole set for local pickup. Any other ideas for getting rid of the china quickly? I’ve listed on eBay and Market Place. I’m going to try offer up today. Thanks for any help!
Those pretty little bowls may be for fish bones, olive pits, any non-edible portion of a serving.

👋👋👋 Hello from🍁 Ms. Karen!! I am trying to make it out 'here' onto YT to support a few of you, but it is hard as I am staying the course of following National, N.American, and Intl. news re Covid-19. I still will be coming on and pressing like button, trying to leave a comment...even if cannot watch or not all way through. What I wanted to share today is that I think you should 'not' feel odd to ask your faithful and new viewers to WATCH or let the commercials/ads roll through their cycle. Mind you the 3 minutes ones are brutal, but I don't mind letting them roll and then returning in few minutes. In any case... best dash and am sending you the optimal best out 'there'. Also .... you could have your fab kiddo have the 'ask' run a couple of times on your video if you do not want to verbally ask.
