Box Prime 9 Components upgrade on the Bronson

Ойын-сауық

Welcome back viewers. Today we will be talking about the Prime 9 from Box Components. Seth from Seth's Bike Hacks hooking up the Bronson with a sweet drivetrain up grade. I took it the Paris Mountain Enduro put on by Cane Creek. We also ran into Neko Mulally at the start of stage 3. Let's see how these new upgrades hold up to a good smashing.

I'm building up a killer Chromag hardtail this year and have the Ti-dyed eeWings and Hellbender BB and Headsets already, going to order the Helm coil and have the Box One Prime 9 planned as my drivetrain. Love that chainring too, might have to get in touch with CC to get one for the build. Take care of those knees Robocop! And keep the great content coming!

Oval rings give you a more consistent pedal stroke without the power spikes at the top of each stroke. Helps a lot when climbing techy sections. Especially when slick roots are involved. Once you ride with oval a few times, you will not notice the difference. But, go back to a round ring an I almost guarantee you will miss your oval and realize the benefits. I have been riding ovals for the past four-five years. I have run Absolute Black, Wolftooth, and currently run OneUp with the Switch carrier. Make sure to check chainring compatibility with your frame, as an oval 32t requires more clearance than a round 32t. The only worry that I have is that oval rings may wear out your clutch deraileur a bit faster since your pulley cage is constantly being pulled back and forth as the chain passes over the changing shape of the oval, as opposed to the consistent shape of a round ring. I usually bash a deraileur before this happens, so, no way for me to really tell. If you are unsure, grab a @oneupcomponents switch carrier and you can swich back and forth , in a minute, or so, to your hearts content.

Cool! I recently purchased and installed the Box 2-E 9 drivetrain that has the same range and single-shift shifter. It's riding great, but the clutch isn't very powerfull. I'm sure that was due to the difference in price points between the 2-E and the 1-E.

Is that cassette a boat anchor? If it was designed for an e-bike then strength over weight was probably the priority. Coupled with the fact that the issue of weight is not addressed, it’s probably a little over-engineered strength-wise for a lighter non-electric MTB, but is more reliable

Hey. I've bent a couple a couple Sunrace 11-46 cassettes, so that's got me looking at a different solution. I remembered seeing Seth's Box 9 pre-launch video and then came across your review. My question is, do you think the Box 9 cassette is a more durable/bomb proof cassette vs others? I'm looking to get something that I can feel confident will not bend. Thanks for the video!

Great video, as always. I don't think Prime 9 will suit me, but it doesn't mean it own't suit others, but I might need to try it for my self, maybe they tweaked it just right, cus I am using all of the gears with 11T, and new bike went to 11-50T so now I think I might have the best combo I can have right now. I squeeze in that extra lighter gear, that extra heavier to get just little bit faster, I just made it as efficient as I could, I am changing gears a lot too. But I don't think I need any more gears, nor less, but maybe I could do with less, if it was perfectly tweaked, but I did not want to risk it and end up with something I might to like, so I went for 11spd, but I can always try Prime 9 at later point. but a thing concerning me is the B screw/bolt, the angle and position is not optimal, so I turn it all the way in, I now know the issue is not my Trek Fuel EX, cus I tested the new Box rd and both on my fuel ex and on my G1, same thing on both. but cus the body is forged it probably will hold up and not get the threads ruined and bent bolt, but I will see how the hanger will do with the bolt only touching it halfway. as seen in this pic: flic.kr/p/2hUmCvJ but previous version did eat the hanger.
