I loved Joker and seriously would be so disappointed if we don’t get to continue this universe!!
Phoenix is the reason I’ve gone to see the film every day this weekend
I also like the idea of dark, gritty, stand alones for DC. A series of villian centered films... The Riddler, Poison Ivy, maybe with Joker as the leader of all the baddies, making short appearances. I am soooo glad DC is NOT like Disney- I know I am in the minority but Mavel bores me; more importantly Marvel already exists, we don't need to to copy them to do well. This film (Joker) was just SO GOOD I don't know how you top it with another story. This film genuinely blew me away; my expectations were high, and it exceeded them so much my breath is still taken away. Genuinely they captured the Joker so well I was sitting in the theatre shaking. We'll see- maybe I'm just too cautious and lightning can strike twice... If it can- wow! I am all in.

Its possible to make good sequel. The historic track record for seguels show the most of them are not so good as the first. - The Matrix: who remembers the sequels - Police academy: they watterd down every sequel - Transformers : plotline watterd down. The most famous sequel in my eyes is the empire strikes back from Star wars. That movie is a masterpiece and is way above all other mpvies of that franchise Yes i would like to see the Joker building up his criminal empire like in the Godfather. More violent chaos and mayhem in the streets of Gotham. Is it wise to make a sequel depens on the quality of the script and acting. A PG13 sequel could harm the acting.
@sophiag612

I don’t necessarily want a sequel but it would b cool if Pattison’s Batman was the Bruce from this movie & was in this universe.

“Very unlikely to get to a Billion.” This is so funny to watch now.
You see, films like Joker are *REAL* divisive movies than benefit from media exposure through actual conversation and debate. The film itself is technically superb: an aesthetical beauty with an engrossing story with very minimal mistakes (if it has any at all), oscar-worthy perfomances, and thematical relevance that lengthens its rewatchability value a long way. It just deals with these themes in very dark, raw, unpleasing ways, which depending on the type of person you are, could turn you off a little bit. Its all about how much you can take. That's what either makes or breaks the movie for lots of people. Films like BvS *ARE NOT* divisive films. They are just panned products that a minority deffends because... that's what a fandom does. I haven't seen a DC film this rich in content and reactions ever since Watchmen back in 2009.

5:04 THANK YOU! I was arguing with my friends about how Shazam, while a good movie, wasn't a huge success because while the budget for the movie was cheaper than other films, the advertisement is a separate amount and more often than not, it tends to eclipse the amount that it took to actually make the movie. And we are having the same argument about the Joker. It's a good movie and I love it. But we have to wait until next week to see if it's going to be a small or huge success, money wise.

The way I can see is they can really integrate 1990's timeline with the present timeline by mr.mind devouring some space time between the 90's and the present timeline in the Shazam sequel. The Joker has always been an insane character that was somewhat lovable because of his humor. I mean, in 1986 The Dark Knight Returns, he killed an entire audience on live television. Where were the protests back then?
Leave Joker alone. It is amazing and glorious as it is. A sequel will only tarnish its current brilliance. “It takes two to do calligraphy. One to do the painting, and one to take the brush away”
