    David was airlifted to hospital as soon as this performance ended. He had a blocked artery. I know how much that hurts! At the start he was trying so hard not to clutch his heart and he had to turn his back to the audience. If you watch it again you will notice he is turning blue around his lips and mouth - a sure sign of heart failure. That evening he had not felt up to getting ready for his performance as he didn’t feel well, which is a bit of an understatement as he must have been feeling simply dreadful. He wouldn’t contemplate letting his audience down and he went on to give the best rendition of Heroes that I have ever enjoyed. He was a true Hero that night. I still love him and miss him every single day ❤️

    I’ve seen him in concert 5 times, first being 1974. I’ve seen heroes performed on line dozens of times. It’s different every time. A true musical genius. The world is slightly diminished for his passing.

  • @Jlivingston66

    @Jlivingston66

    I’d argue that the world is much diminished by his passing. David Bowie was one of the most important figures of the 20th and now 21st centuries. He shaped music, fashion, culture, while challenging and remaking societal norms about gender, sexuality, masculinity, what it is to be an outcast. He was the awkward, uncertain kid who grew up to be the coolest kid on the block. . . Just by being himself and not conforming to the world until the world conformed to him.

    I have to say this is one of the greatest live Heroes of all along with Montreal 1983. We think of Live Aid and say oh yeah,that's the one but, this one has a closer side to the original studio masterpiece. Isn't it so special that he put it all out there with this one and no one knew it would be the last time ever. The love I have for him,since I was 13yrs old in 1973. He will always be my hero.

    Simply the most beautiful man and incredible artist. Always authentic with 100% integrity, total honesty. How life didn't 'beat him' , I'll possibly not quite understand but it had so so much to do with his huge huge understanding kind heart. Such a brave, courageous sweet man. I miss the likes of these people. My 2 greatest joys and escapisms are my son, and music. The latter is a purely selfish indulgence. But it is so healing, so uniting. And I don't understand why fucking religion and politics rule when music and art and pure love can sustain, and override everything.

    For all the years mankind has been on this Earth, I am so thankful that I got to live during the same years as David Bowie. I’ve loved him since the first time I saw him on TV in 1972. I went out then and bought some of his albums and have been listening to him ever since. I only got to see him once in concert, but I was right up front. I’ll never forget it!

    Wow just wow!! I was too young to know this Bowie song when it first hit the airwaves but googled as I keep hearing it as background music track for Walmart commercial During this Coronavirus pandemic and though I’ve heard it in movie tracks and such I’m just beside myself as to how this has become one of my favorite songs in my life. My parents escaped east Germany in 1957 and after researching this track and thinking this was written with that in mind among other possibilities it has special meaning. Both lyrically and musically sooo beautiful!!. And now to think it has been resurrected in year 2020 as or nurses and doctors are heroes for more than one day is proof to what David Bowie has contributed to all of humanity that truly transcends time. This last performance is the most guttural of all the ones I’ve seen yet👌 Thank you David for touching all of us personally one way or another... wished I could have been present at this last night❣️

    I believe he is the greatest solo artist of all time. His longevity gave us a supreme legacy indeed. He is a once only creation that reached such heights as Ziggy Stardust, yet still reinvented himself for decades to follow. I was very fortunately blessed to see him for the first time on the 78 World Tour and that still ranks the greatest of all in so many ways for me. Actually, about Heroes, it played a legendary part at that show and all the others on the world tour. After hearing "Ladies and gentlemen, David Bowie will be onstage in 5mins",the lights soon dimmed and the funeral-like opening bars of Warszawa filled the outdoor stadium. Then, as Warszawa ended, he stepped out from behind the keyboards and I was breathless as he just unleashed into Heroes. It was a No 1 hit all over the world at the time and it was one of the greatest moments in rock history I believe. It was a stunning way to use one of his most dramatic and powerful songs To The Starman, there will never be anyone quite like you ever again, we all miss you.

    This is my most loved Heroes of all the live ones ive seen, along with Montreal 1983. Live Aid was excellent but i say this one as he and the band are almost supernatural here. . The intensity he is singing with here is like hes giving it all and theres nothing left in the tank, such that he collapsed with a heart attack shortly after. This makes me really miss all that i love about him. The greatest solo artist we will ever know in our lifetime, so deeply missed by us all.
