28:25 This is just a clarfication of what happened during Subaru and friends escape from the mansion, so if you do not want to be influenced by this, just ignore it. This might already have been pointed out to you, but Prez asked why RbD was acting up in this scene, but in reality it was actually something else. The pain Subaru experienced in this situation was a result of him using Shamac again without finishing Felix' Gate-treatment from season 1. As was mentioned at the start of Arc 3, Subaru's overexertion of his Gate during the Witch Beast Incident in Arc 2 slightly damaged it, which was the underlying reason for why Emilia brought him with her to the capital to get treatment. Subaru however never finished it, so now when he cast Shamac again, his already strained Gate caused the moment of pain we witnessed in episode 6.

If we go by seson 1 Betty CAN leave the libary and even the mansion proper. Not sure about the manson at this time since she had a contract with subaru when he jumped the cliff but she left the libary plenty of times without one.

It's not that Emilia is not strong willed she honestly is but her past is rough like you saw when she woke up. Subaru had a chill trial.

I don't understand the need for us the watcher to see Emilia POV on her trial to really sympathize with her, obviously her trial is tough, her past is tough, as we all can see from the OVA and it's more than that. I'd never even think about getting mad/annoyed because she couldn't pass it easily, i just feel bad and sorry for her, but hey that might be just me.

its not for the need to sympathise, its because it expands the character and the world itself. People dont know yet watching this episode what's going on, and that's what's supposed to create the suspense. Plus Emilia ia half elf, so possibly long lived, yet breaking down over her past means something spicy has happened that everyone wants to know especially after the ova/movie frozen bonds

I think what people don’t understand about Emilia’s trial is that she isn’t failing because she is not ready or because she is weak willed, but because as we saw in the OVA, she doesn’t even remember her past, so for her the trial is just a traumatic experience that she can’t understand or make sense of.

It’s not immediately obvious that her past being tough is the issue on a first watch - it’s understandable that many people assume that it’s probably as hard as Subaru’s. Also in Subaru’s, Echidna wanted him to succeed, but in Emilia’s we have Echidna provoking her a lot more

@@VTWS it totally is obvious. Her face completely changes and she acts in a way we haven’t seen her behave before. Subaru’s past was sad, but it isn’t on the level of Emilia’s trauma. Trauma often prevents ppl from growing too. If Subaru handled it fine, then Emilia’s reaction is clearly on a level beyond what Subaru experienced. The issue is that ppl already have a low opinion of her and as such assume that her issue isn’t a big deal.

Betty can leave the library, she did in season 1 with subaru. She just doesn't

We've seen on multiple occasions that RbD is pretty strict with what kind of information Subaru is allowed to share. Like in episode 13 (when Subaru and Emilia have their falling out), the Unseen Hands stop Subaru from sharing information about his very first loop when Emilia saved him from the Goon Squad in the ally. Similarly, when he implies during the fight with the White Whale that Rem had died to it in a previous loop, RbD intervense again and does not allow him to share information that alludes to his resets. It is however seemingly fine with Subaru sharing information that can be played off as simple predictions "the White Whale will be in x location at y time/Witch cultists are going to attack Emilia on Z occasion".

Supposedly, he cant even write about it. Honestly its a strict but also pretty lax rule… sometimes Subaru can outright talk about his authority. Sometimes he cant even allude to it. Like with Roswaal, he completely knew about it but no reaction. HOWEVER, there is ONE main difference about him and others and thats the knowledge of “dying”. Roswaal doesn’t know Subaru dies for his authority, and he can talk about it with him without restrictions basically.
