Six years on and I will never forget this thunderstorm. When the centre of the storm came inland, it was literally like being under a strobe-light. Definitely the most electrified thunderstorm I've ever seen!

Great video - thanks for the upload! That's one hell of a thunderstorm - by any standards! The strike rate is extraordinary. Something nearby got hit at around 08.54!

I had a similar view of this storm from my window in Bournemouth. It was truly spectacular and we probably won't see many storms like this in a lifetime. Thanks for capturing this & posting.

I have lived in Bournemouth all my life and have seen many storms but i have never seen anything with the intensity this one had,the lightning was constant and the rain and hail so heavy it flooded our road in minutes,we certainly don't get many like this!

I'm in Scotland and I sat and watched this come in last night through one of your pier cams. It looked fantastic then and I'm sure lightning struck the end of the pier. Anyway, went to bed and slept right through our more tamer thunderstorm which hit about 4am.

I am so so jealous! To think this formed a mere 20 miles or something to my west is killing me. The amount of lightning is INSANE though, this has got to be the best storm video I've ever seen from a UK location! Oh, and the close strike halfway through scared the crap out of me, so christ knows how you felt!

We had quite a spectacular light show in Andover, but not much thunder. I think the nearest storm cell was about six miles south-west of the valley.

It was like this in Milton Keynes, but i didnt get to film it, and sh*tting hell that lightening at 851 scares the living daylights out of me, and i had my sound on low. It sounded like a gunshot

I am absolutely speechless at how to describe how I felt through that. I knew Bournemouth got a pasting last night through various resources, but I will safely say right now, that is the best, by a trillion miles, thunderstorm video I have ever seen in my lifetime. It is exceptional. I am now about to start making you famous. Believe me. Any objections, let me know. You will get all the credit, I will be including your name and links. It starts now, watch your views go up big time!! You deserve it.

I just joined you in doing the same thing. While you're at it, you can add a "like" to your comment and to the others. That's how you send it up the Google viewers' charts. I got a kick out of some of the others' comments here. Good going.

If I didn't read everybody else's comments, I'd say that was a shotgun! What amazes me about that is that we might get lightning like that if it hits a near-by tree followed by the most explosive thunder, and I mean deafening thunder. I had to play it back again just to compare it to what it might sound like over here.

Thanks for all of the great comments! Formidable38 - I'm not sure what git hit, but it was pretty damn close, and it knocked out the (landline) phone lines in our street, and they are provided by underground cables! 😉

It seems to "stop and go" whenever you move something, but I don't know what it is, and my hearing is very sensative, so it may be harder for you to notice. Thank you so much, and I really hope I haven't offended or stumped you. Heather

Hi Heather! Sorry it's taken so long to reply, but your comments didn't show up on the mobile app, and I'm not on my PC very often... I have no idea what the noise was! This video was recorded almost 2 years ago (at the time of writing), and I was pretty much hanging out of my bedroom window... Maybe it was a car in the road below? Sorry I don't have any more information...

A quick question: Can you please tell me what's that noise I hear in the background that sounds like some sort of fan belt or a vehicle with a loose or slightly squeaky belt? It's almost like that, but I'm not quite sure how else to describe it, and I'm totally blind, so I don't know if you're in a vehicle or not.

and there is us, one little pathetic grunt and our thunderstorm was over, no flashy light show, no downpour of rain and no great rumbles of thunder, it was pathetic, I miss a good thunderstorm, clear's the air and is a great show, oh by the way, I live in England, enough said lol
