I currently live at the Brookdale fish hatchery site and am interested in knowing more about my property in regards to where the train came thru and where the station was. The old hatchery building was demolished and a small cabin was built on the site around 1934, we found this date in a concrete foundation of the cabin.

When l was young we looked at a house for sale in Brookdale,it was the old depot. That was about 1965. It should be still there.People still live there as far as l know. lf you're on clear creek go south to the lodge ,go left towards the river the house is on the left.

To the best of my knowledge, the Fish Hatchery never had a station. It may have had a shelter, but I suspect it was only a sign. For several years there was a spur there called Steen's Switch, but when the hatchery was put in, the spur seems to have disappeared. Regarding maps of the area, you can check the Santa Cruz GIS website here: gis.santacruzcounty.us/gisweb/. Type in your address and then go to Recorded Maps & Docs. There's nothing that interesting for you under Recorded Maps, but several items under Non-Recorded Maps. The right-of-way was Old River Lane. I think you'll especially like map A70-007 and A03-026.

@@santacruztrains Thanks for the clues. I knew that the hatchery did not have it's own station, and that Old River Rd was the RR right of way.
