Wow loved that you gave us a great run down on how people bring the life back in these old bottles, what a beautiful collection you have

Loved the video. Loved to see the before and after including the struggle. Some bottles may have started their lives full of murky glass, riddled with bubbles and trapped particles with wonky necks and crude blob tops. This is why we love them so much. They tell us not only their birth but what they had to endure to get to us. Well done sir, thanks.

The best final polish I have found is the CPP aluminum oxide from Johnson Brothers Lapidary in California. The bottles come out shining with no residue to remove and there is no black foam.

Do you think polishing these bottles brings higher value to them? It’s been several years since I’ve sold any that I have and I never polished any of them

I like to polish my local bottles so whether they are cleaned or not it really doesn’t affect the price. The more expensive bottles depends who you talk to some people like them stained to show authenticity. Some people like them shiny. 🤷

@@skullbottleguy cool, thank you for the help. Also, I saw a really cool Rahway Liquor Store Flask on marketplace. Embossed slug plate. 162 Main St. Thought I would mention it to you, I don't collect that area so I'm unfamiliar with it. Not sure if it's common or not.

A bit off topic but I'd be really interested to see what advice you could give me (if any) for removing scratches from my front aquarium glass. There are no deep ones, all are just light surface scratches that are not even noticable when running a finger over them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers!

I beleive they sell polish that you can rub out the scratch . Honestly I never tried to get rid of a scatch.

Does letting them soak in boiling water for an hour work? Have you tried an ultra sonic cleaner? I'm just curious if there are other ways.
