Thanks for such a detailed video of the assembly process! I'm going to make a cutter too. Yours is just super👍
Here in the US, 5/16" is a good substitute for 8mm threads if you have a difficult time finding them (for this project anyways). I didn't even have to resize anything in the slicer. I've had no issues on my cutter.

great topic, thanks 👍
Ace. Thanks.
I must say, you have a lot of dedication to this recycling 3d printer filament thing. It’s rather impressive. I’m curious, why do you work so hard to do all of this?

SMART!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome work, man!!! I managed put in the works my first "frankenstein" Petalot (It's a mess hehehe) I love the bottle cutter with bearings, it's so easy and clean cuts.Question, this cutter version with the adjustable threaded rod isn't available to print?

@function3D

Great design! When you are printing with the PET filament do you dry it before? I've been having problems with moisture causing bad layer adhesion but haven't seen anyone drying their PET bottle filament.

I never dry my filaments, for me, humidity and 3D printing have no relation

70-75C for a few hours will do the trick. I use a large air tight tupperware bin, to which I've added a mesh container filled with silica dessicant that dries at the same time as the filament. PET is very hygroscopic- I live in a very humid climate at sea level, so I'm always fighting it. I do 170°F for about five hours after pultruding. Drying like this drastically improves my print quality.

Thanks for sharing. Why have you print it in PETG?

It is PET not PETG, I don't see any other way to do it if not with the same filament that you do with that cutter

@@function3D you mean cutter block is printed in PET itself? How many grams/meters/bottles were used?

@@arturomendez7945 The nearly 50 machines and many more cutters I have printed on PET bottle filament. The cutter block takes 9 meters, 28 grams or one bottle.

I have this problem it cuts the bottle, but the bottle creeps up, what can be the reason?
@function3D

1. bottle is not flat 2. bearing are not sharp 3. The contraption not well adjusted 4. You are not pulling upward and toward you. 5. You have not yet practiced enough to develop this skill ....
