    @@pubgone-iw7bz The Magnus effect will become weaker. His opponents do not yet count on such mistakes from Magnus. You don't believe that Keymer or Abasov would need an engine if they had checked the position. For example, Keymer did not even consider Nxe4 (and magnus is out) ... precisely because of the Magnuseffect. same by Qf1 for Abasov. Everybody need some "Luck" for win such a strong Tourney

    @pubgone-iw7bz you are wrong Abasov spotted the idea actually. His idea of going Rg6 was to follow up with Qf1 and Rg2 winning the game. He just did the move order wrong. Qf1 is not a hard move to spot since you only need to calculate 2-3 moves ahead. It wasn't a long variation

    Yep, far too early to call. Magnus is still the highest rated player in the world, but losses are happening a bit more frequently than they were a few years ago - he is clearly a little past his peak. So I wouldn't write either Prag or Fabio off yet - on current form Prag, especially, is a big threat.

    While I found Qf1, this was under the assumption that every position is 3000 level puzzle lols, well although once in awhile you just somehow go into the "puzzle mode" and might discover it because there was almost no good move in that position! Lol Nevertheless, I'm surprised of how well Nijat played against Magnus!! (Simply because I've never seen his game lol) hope to see him more in the future!!

    Magnus controlled this whole game. It seems like he disrespected young Nijat with his aggressive play, leaving pawns hanging, just to get him out of book and play real chess. The GOAT got what he wanted and destroyed him.

    Is the "b4 square is the most dominant square on the board" a meme of Agadmator's, or is it a real thing?

  • @peters616
    @peters61611 ай бұрын

    Magnus didn't see Qf1 because he believed Nijat was focused on his rook. It would have taken a different line of thinking for either of them to see that move. Magnus' subsequent Kb4 move deserved at least one ! - that was the point of no return in the game absent a blunder.
