Спорт

Next Up for Top Rank Boxing, WBC/IBF unified light heavyweight world champion Artur Beterbiev moved to Montreal nearly a decade ago to embark on his professional journey following a pair of Olympic berths for his native Russia. Sixteen fights into his career, he will return to his adopted hometown for the first time as a world champion.
Beterbiev, boxing’s only world champion with a 100 percent knockout rate, will defend his world titles against WBC No. 1 contender and 2012 U.S. Olympian Marcus Browne on Friday Dec. 17 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Beterbiev-Browne will headline a loaded world title tripleheader streaming live and exclusively in the United States on ESPN+.
Promoted by Top Rank and Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM), tickets go on sale Saturday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. ET and can be purchased by visiting ticketmaster.ca, or emailing GYM’s office directly at info@groupeyvonmichel.ca.

If it was up to you, you would fighters say "Wow, he is alot fast then me and way more skilled, and won the first 3 rounds, so why waste my time, let me just go home"... @@hectorramos2014 I don’t think it was arrogance. He didn’t want to kill the guy . He showed respect for him . All it takes is one shot to put you in intensive care and kill you . Look at Gerald McClelan I am terrible with spelling Lol, he was a great upcoming middleweight in the mid 90’s. His corner should’ve stopped the fight after the 3rd or 4 th round . He already suffered severe brain damage from his previous fight but took the fight against Nigel Benn . At any rate, he gets hit with a few hard flesh shots and begins blink repeatedly and breath hard through his mouth while his mouthpiece was hanging out of his mouth. He eventually gets counted out voluntarily after he couldn’t continue in I believe the 9 th or 10 th round and collapses in his corner after the fight . He had a severe blood cloth in his brain and a coma few weeks I believe maybe a week . When he woke up he was not the person he used to be . He was blind, pretty much death , and had severe memory loss. He has no memory of that horrible night he loss to Nigel Benn . He still struggles today while his sister takes care of him . He probably should’ve never been in the ring that night and the fight definitely should’ve been stopped. Loma definitely wasn’t wrong for asking his corner to save this kid and stop the fight . We don’t know what long term effect taking those punches will have on this kid when it could’ve been prevented.

I have nothing but respect for lomachenko ...that was not a man showing arrogance...that was a fighter and a human being ...stopping mid action....showing concern for the health and well-being of the opponent in front of him! I felt the same exact way when I seen it in the live fight! He seen the man wasn't right and chose to show concern for his health rather than just go for The highlight-reel Knockout! He really deserves so much more respect and praise for those moments of putting a man's health and well-being before his own highlight reel

Nah he was being arrogant. He's put away other fighters way worse. He needs to play his position and let his hands do the talking. He shoulda just put him away with a body shot, but couldnt. Remember his ego and pride was hurt by the Teo loss- he couldnt even take the loss with class. This was supposed to be a statement win and he wanted to put him away but couldnt. He was trying to act like the "man" here. Have you not watched enough boxing to see others get beaten to a pulp way more before stopping it. Lol I couldnt believe he was asking for a stoppage- i think hes a great fighter but needs to get off his high horse.

All boxers regardless of how much they like or dislike one another, they all respect allllll boxers for stepping in the ring and putting they life on the line to feed their families. Andre rozier is a pretty good trainer. Made like 5 ppl Champs or around that number. Ppl and their narratives are weird. If Richard commey didn't get up from his stool ppl would say he has no heart even if he had no chance of winning. I think the cornermen knew the capabilities of his fighter more than viewers and the fighter last all 12 at the end. I think certain fighters would rather go all 12 even if they were losing than get a towel thrown or give up. Some of you guys are fuckin babies, no joke. I think Andre knew it would be better for commey in the "long run" (future fight, or future narratives) to say he went all 12 with loma and deserve certain fights than end up getting it stopped bc the trainers need to "have a heart". ❤ .

  • @jchendrix

I hear a lot of people who don't know boxing keep saying that Commey lasted and Loma was soft or didn't perform, those people are naive. Lomachenko controlled the fight from start to end, he is very close friends with Commey and continually pulled out of exchanges in a deliberate effort not to permanently hurt Richard Commey. Not just in this clip but throughout the fight he stopped punching before the bell and eased off on numerous occasions, if you watch closely you can see Loma give Commey the nod a few times near the end of rounds including this round basically asking Commey if he is alright, checking on his friends welfare, rather then just looking to knock him out and look cool which he could have done. A top class act by Lomachenko, Commey will fight better at a heavier weight as he has the build for it, he should have never been fighting Lomachenko in this weight division.
