Botanical Scape Scud Ecosphere
It's been awhile since I've made an ecosphere, but after I found the scuds in my plant haul, I knew it had to happen again. When the weather warms up, I have plans to do some more, so stay tuned for that!
I'm very surprised by how much fun I've had watching this setup. You'd think a few scuds and snails would be boring, but there's always something going on. I also think the rustic botanical scape is a perfect way to showcase these animals. It's certainly resembles areas where you'd find them in nature.
As always, let me know what you think about the project down in the comments! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel as well. I appreciate your viewership and can't wait to show you what else I have in store for this year... we haven't even started yet!

@@SerpaDesign kudos btw for your pronounciation of süßwassertang from a german viewer. it's almost there :) well and it's a prime example how we germans are the masters of compound words lol. süßwasser is just the german name for fresh water and literally means sweet water. salzwasser is ofc salt water. and tang is just our term for the type of algae. i always feel like english speakers tend to just ignore our äöü and pronounce them like aou. but you nail the ü.

Yeah these are freshwater amphipods, scuds are just their common name. We also got copepods and ostracods and daphnia and stuff. I really enjoyed this. I think it would be fun to just sit and watch the scuds and snails moving around in all the elements you added!
the weird oblong shape of the container really meshes well with keeping an "oddball" creature like scuds

I love your edits because the rest of the video is completly serious but it gets me laughing so hard every time! What a beautiful natural looking scape! I never knew what those shrimp things were called. But I love scuds! So cute!
Aww this is such a cute neat ecosphere! It could be used to culture scuds as fish food as well! Very interesting for the biology minded
Behold! Ye origins of the Progenitor Scud! Thisss is where it all began!
What a terrific idea. I just have mine in a ten gallon tote with a heater and a sponge filter. I know that they like eating Hornwort, a floating plant, or any floating plants. I put in a spinach leaf once in a while for them. Great tutorial. Short and to the point.

I love this one. I think scuds are fascinating to watch, I used to have a tank with just scuds and snails in it. Pulling your head out of the pot was great too. 😂
I've always loved shrimp and crabs and lobsters and anything shrimp-like. The way mine steal food pellets, the way they are the only ones who can be near the pleco without being slapped by its tail.

It's so cool ! It looks like if we were watching at the bottom of a river with a magnifying glass
Scuds are such an fun little critter to watch, I have some in a little 2.5 gallon with some snails and shrimp and its a blast to just stare at. Also, consider trying to get scuds established in some of your regular fish tanks if at all possible. They make a phenominal cleanup crew, and also serve as a steady stream of snacks for your fishies.
That shelf filled with empty jars wow 🤩
Can I live inside this one? Stunning, so natural, so peaceful.

Great job as always, Tanner. I've watched other ecosphere vids but this is the first where the variety of fauna was intentional. Other folks collect material from a spot and wait to see what lives in their container. You picked all the elements so this is a different take on ecospheres. It looks good!
Dude its so wild, im a bio major so ike life interests me, but when plants small creatures thrive in an essentially closed environment, its just incredible to me
