I lived in the North End back in the late 70's, early 80's, it was almost all Italians back then. I had a two bedroom apartment for $120. a month. Boy has it changed! Somewhat disorienting, but fun to see all the same. I was hoping to see Salem St. and Bova's Bakery, my favorite. Thanks for the upload! 😊

Wow, I wish I could see how the neighborhood looked like back in the 70s and 80s. $120 a month for a two bedroom :-O hahaha wow. I can't imagine today's price. I would guess $4500. If anyone lives in the North End now, please let me know what you are paying? I just realized I didn't walk on Salem St. Sorry , I will make another video next time during the daytime, and I'll be sure to include Salem St. Thank you for watching! 😀

@@virtualstroll Thanks! I would LOVE to see Salem St. again. I also lived at 92 Prince St., at the site of the original Prince spaghetti factory I was told. The building was owned by the local mob bosses, the Angiulo Brothers, their 'office' was downstairs. Crazy times! I was part of the Boston Punk scene and used to go to Bova's Bakery late at night, like 2am, after the clubs let out. (Bova's is on the corner of Salem and Prince at 134 Salem). We'd get a still hot loaf of Italian bread and go home and eat it with butter.😋 $120. a month was not uncommon, I had a friend who had a tiny studio apt. for $45. a month! Thing is, there were no showers or tubs, you had to wash up in the sink. My sink was so deep I could sit in it! (The locals used the public bath house, I never went.) Also, the toilets were pull chain toilets and were in the hallway. I also used to live at 4 Garden Court, in the building Rose Kennedy was born in. There's a plaque on the facade saying so. I'd love to see Bova's again, it might make me cry, I miss it, so many fond memories.🥲 Hey, have a cannoli for me, will ya?💗
