[Useless Info]: "Marianne" is the song-writer, Tom Scholz cousin's name, Tom is the Founder, Main Songwriter, Primary Guitarist, Keyboardist and only remaining (OG) original member of the rock band "BOSTON". He's appeared on every "Boston" release, Scholz, a multi-instrumentalist, plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums.

The song is about losing someone close to you. Apparently he just picked the name Marianne because it was his cousin's name. So no it is not from a personal experience he had

Lol, I nearly choked on my Spaghetti when he said "I see Marianne walking away..." and you "Where is she going?" - You are asking the right questions. Too bad I don't know either! I read "Marianne" is the Cousin of band member Tom Scholz, the dude had a Crush on her when he was a younger & he must have loved the name enough to write it in a song.
Great band - and real vocal artistry on this difficult to sing musicpiece. Thanks 🎶
