    @@STMARTIN009it definitely could. My parents are from Mexico, so I grew up speaking Spanish and English. I speak perfect English with no accent. But my Spanish has a funny accent. And it’s not the same accent that Americans have when speaking Spanish. My Spanish is perfect, just sounds a little off. That’s what happened learning Spanish from my parents and learning English at school.

    @@grayhairedjess Was gonna say that, but also I'm a New Yorker (Brooklyn/Staten Island) and I grew up hearing my Brooklyn parents refer to denimjeans as dungarees also, I think I used to call them too that but I guess I stopped at a certain point in my teens or 20s because I'd get odd looks from younger folk.

    Granted, there are variations defending on the regions, but one of the things we Bostonians retained from the Brits going back to colonial days is not pronouncing "Rs" in certain words (cahh, pahhk, yahhd, etc.).

    Proof that despite Americans constantly roasting us for pronouncing water wrong, they actually pronounce it wrong all the time as well lol, they always replace the T with D "Wardur". The lack of T pronunciation in England is largely down to class, if you are posh or middle class you usually clearly pronounce the T. Whereas the working class particularly in and around London often do not pronounce the T.

Like one day she said grab the pot from the porch. Ok I put in the potted plant in the trunk. We pull up to the garage and she's like go get the pot, so I get the plant. She says where's the car part? I said you said POT. I said now say the two of them back and forth: pot pot pot pot pot. I said you see why I grabbed the pot?

    Actually, neither the British or the Bostonians speak with an intrusive letter “R” in most words. Australians the same. You don’t believe me? Do you have a GPS? Set your GPS for an Australian accent, and when you arrive at your destination, notice the voice telling you you have arrived at the cah pahk.
