    They also nerfed the sl-2 by not allowing rate to become note division of the master tempo when synced to midi. Furious. It would make this the ultimate studio tool. Excited for this video tho! Been waiting for this thank you for your time

    Wow, this is incredible! I hope that as people get set up and play with this, they will document their findings regarding which modules are working and how; it’s obvious that not all parameters from the main document will be available. Thanks to all for this great Christmas gift!

    Just had to say how appreciated you are by me. (I’m PedalCrazyFool from TGP). I don’t have this pedal, prolly never will, but being something of a geek I enjoyed your video of it very much. You the man, my friend!

    It's because of a video that involved the new SLICER editor, that I subscribed to this channel yesterday. With this new fresh video I am even happier I did. So this editor emulates the editor that exists inside the other big BOSS modulation pedal. I wonder if it would be possible to update this editor inorder to expand the 8/12/16/24 step restriction. Greek and other cultures use alot of odd meters and I find it very limiting if someone wants to use the patterns as a rhythmic element instead of a textural element.(EDIT: I failed to create an "issue" for my suggestion on GITHUB, so if anyone would be kind enough to pass the word to the developers it would be wonderful. Thanks)

    I would like to have a preset without any slices - so I can use it just a panning-pedal.

    Seems to me, this editor makes the SL-2 the ultimate Slicer version. Can you think of a SINGLE thing either of the other 2 can do, that the SL-2 can’t ?! I’m not sure whether the single mix knob of the SL-2 is limiting in any way (vs greater control of Direct and Effect levels, via separate knobs, on the SL-20)?! I don’t think so, though; these seem to have been separated on the SL-20 for the purposes of the looper playback/playing live over the top of a loop. And even if so, nothing that couldn’t be overcome via external signal splitting/mixing, presumably? Or if a lack of MIDI * out * matters at all (I don’t think so, as I think all any of the 3 can do is * receive Input via MIDI * anyway, ie not output its own tempo? So they’re only ‘receivers’, anyway?!). The SL-2 can also receive CC MIDI Input (I’m guessing the MD-500 can, too), which the old SL-20 cannot. The MD-500 has Tempo Hold … I don’t think that matters; just don’t input a different tempo to the SL-2[0], if you don’t want the tempo to change!!?! 😋 I disregard the looper of the SL-20, anyway - much better to have a separate looper. I’m not sure whether the sound/FX quality of the SL-2 suffers at all, for being a compact?! Great pair of Slicer videos!! Thanks again! 😎👌🏼🙏🏼

    A few additional midi options on the MD-500. The way the mix is implemented is different, yes you could get around that by splitting the signal and parallel mixing it. Whether it's the ultimate version really depends on someone's needs and what they find important. For me, the SL-2 is the one I'd choose because I think the 3D routing options are the most impressive. I still think Boss should come out with an official editor and build it so your changes can be heard in real time, but I doubt that will ever happen. I've not noticed a difference in sound quality on any of them. They all be slicing and doing it well.

    the thing that is confusing is how do you know what preset you're working with? or how do you select a preset with just the pedal in hand? how can i set a preset to sync with the grond control pro preset for a particular song?

    Finally, I've been looking for something like this. I was planning to buy the MD500 because of the custom patterns but this seems to be a good alternative. Once uploaded to the pedal, are multiple custom patterns recallable via Midi or is it limited to one?

  • @TriPedalReviews

    Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the SL-2 has the ability to recall patterns via midi at all. It isn't in the documentation that I could find. IF it were possible, it wouldn't be limited to just one pattern though. The 1 pattern thing is only a restriction of the initial editing. After you've created your patch and put it on the pedal or in a setlist you aren't going to junk, it works just like any other pattern in the SL-2 and you can have as many as you want.

    @@TriPedalReviews Alright, thanks for the reply. So how do those set lists in the SL-2 Editor work? Do you create a list and when you upload it to the pedal, it replaces the patterns in the slots or something? And when you click on a preset in the Editor, it plays it back instantly?

  • @TriPedalReviews

    @TriPedalReviews

    @@DIYguitarGuy Yes, you can replace any pattern on the pedal with whatever pattern you would like from the preset manager. Whether you load a pattern on the pedal or not, you can just click them in the preset manager to hear them. IF you load it onto the pedal, then you can either select it in the editor, or if you are un-hooked from the editor/computer, you would just select it with the bank/pattern selection knobs on the pedal itself (whatever slot you happen to put the one you want to select in)

    Thanks for sharing this, would you kindly make a tutorial for midi to work with SL2, i tried it once not only it didnt work but it made the pedal sort of sound out of compression, basically trying to make it to work with midi clock changed the compression settings somehow, and it sounds awful now. I have to put my compressor after sl2 just to minimize the damage! Any opinion & help would be much Appriciated

    I think I have the same issue, didn't play much with this pedal, I was so disapointed as it was advertised as a customizable pedal pattern, I expected to be able to create my own trance gating effects. So digging in, I found this editor a while ago, and toyed with it but gave up as I couldn't seem to be able to create a custom slice pattern. I ended up putting the pedal aside. A while after taking it back I noticed the sound was awfully loud and could not using it for live tweaks.

    I have an idea to control the slicer via usb from Raspberry pi. In theory we can change all pesets with it, and embed to pedalboard as a foot or midi controlled drvice. Is anybody interested?

    @@louismarinrenaud416 well that's the right one, could be many things : - are your Pro Tool properly configured to send Midi clock ? (confirm other devices receive clock) - does it send start message as well ? or is your tempo already playing when you try ? - you can try to receive midi from all channel (in setup mode, variation knob to 11)
