    A Boss Slicer dive this deep is surely a dream come true! Thank you!!! Also, I love the tip about setting output mode on SL-2 using the editor, and the honest take on doing that over the 9-step alternative was very entertaining 😅

    Super useful video so thank you. I have the SL20 and have had some great success. I think an SL200 would be a killer addition to the line.

    Great comparison, thanks! Is there any ‘unofficial’ software/way to get custom patterns into the SL-2, that you know of … ? I would think that it’s possible …

    I haven't tried it, but there is a reddit post of a guy that made a tool in python for it. Can be accessed via the web. Link to the tool is in the details of this reddit post. www.reddit.com/r/guitarpedals/comments/10lwm03/webbased_custom_pattern_builder_for_the_boss_sl2/

    🎉Excellent info; thanks!🎉 The only tiny improvement to this content I can imagine would be to make an infographic illustrating your final comparison of the units' capabilities. Can something like the Eventide H9 do many of these same things, I wonder? And what do those removed stereo field options sound like?

    I demo'd all of the stereo routing options in this video, that is the definitive list as the SL-2 has all of them. The ones removed in the MD-500 are the 3D ones and the EFX/Dir which is only found on the SL-2. Use the timestamp to jump to the Routing section in this video and you can hear them all. I have an H9, but I don't recall it having any module that would do anything similar to the slicer. There is TremoloPan that will not do it, you could get a reverse sawtooth trem I believe, but nothing with patterns. Undulator wont either.

    SL-20 has a option to turn on effect only while pressed (momentary). Does SL-2 have something similar?

    Documentation states you can via the CTRL Jack on the SL-2, but it'd require a switch.

    How about Slicer in MD-200 compared to MD-500? Is it the same or limited in some way?

  • @TriPedalReviews

    @TriPedalReviews

    Since it's the 200 model which is meant to be a stripped down version, there will be things missing. I don't have the MD-200, but from what I can tell from reading the manual and watching demos online. It has the same patterns the MD-500 has, so not as many as the SL-2. No editor, pattern creation isn't a thing, just adjustments to patterns that already exist (speed, depth, duty cycle etc...). No choice for output modes. You'll get whatever they give you. The amount of steps can't be adjusted either.

    can this do bread and butter square wave

  • @TriPedalReviews

    I'd say no. They have a waveform that is close to square in the trem section, but it doesn't go fast enough to be useful.

    @@TriPedalReviews well thank you for the recommendation. Gonna watch more videos on the SL-2 now. To be honest I was leaning towards the SL-2. 👍
