Boss Katana - High Gain Tube Screamer Trick

Музыка

The Ibanez Tube Screamer is one of those pedals you see on everyone's pedalboard, its so versatile you can use it as a boost an overdrive pedal and as I'm going to demonstrate in this video a way to sculpt a metal tone. The Boss Katana has a great Tube screamer emulation but can it do the metal tone trick? The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

You guys are MOTHER FUCKING LIFE SAVERS! I was about ready to give up on this amp. I couldn't get a good metal tone to save my life. I went as far as posting my Limited edition Epiphone Les Paul traditional pro ii Plus for sale because I thought it wasn't made for heavier stuff. I was so wrong! I even traded for a tube screamer recently so this worked out perfectly. I'm in a pretty popular metal band and you honestly just saved me from possibly getting kicked for not having a decent enough setup. I have the mkii head btw I'm running it through a VHT 2x12 cabinet and today I fell in love with it thanks to you!! I was wondering why I was hearing all of these awesome guitarists making the katana sound great. I even watched tutorials the went deep into the EQ settings and got nothing! One simple little 6 minute video without any of the complicated features and my amp sounds better than it ever has. Comparable to some of the $1,000+ amp setups I have had in the past. You got a subscriber for life. Bring been more katana videos please!

I think TS is the best built in booster in Katana. I’m more into blues tones nowadays than metal but TC is good for almost everything. I’m not a fan of to much fuzz in the tone. One sound I really like is Gary Moores. And well, the sound is a lot in the fingers as well, maybe the most important “booster”. :) As always a great video! 👍👍

That’s all well and good, and popular of course. What’s not being covered is this: many of us play jazz. The tones we seek are the old Fender tones (think Grant Green playing Fried Pies), and the Polytone amp sounds. So thick, yet so clear. Can you get this amp to sound and react like a Polytone?

I can tell you're not a metal guy when you play a Foo Fighters riff to demo metal tones. ;) Great video though. I have a Katana 100 MKii and I haven't really done much with the software yet (it's my practice amp for my office and just tweaking the knobs I've been able to get plenty of serviceable tones). I bought it specifically because I DIDN'T want to mess around with software and wanted physical controls. The level of control you're getting out of the app looks pretty compelling though. I might have to bust out the app.
