Before anybody else gets confused you only have to perform this if you are no longer using any of the Bose equipment. If the head unit is gone regular speakers will not work until you bypass the amp.in my scenario the last owner gutted the speakers and the Bose system so I had to rewire everything. I couldn't figure out why I was not getting sound till I figured it out that I had to bypass the Bose amp. And the toggle switch is only used for my preference because the antenna stays up even if I'm using my phone for music.

I ended up seeing if the bose speakers would at least work with my aftermarket head unit they did, but ended up blowing up lol no sound now and radio got a little hot. I'm about to go buy some kickers

I'm not sure if the PO of my 2000 bypassed the factory Bose amp or what, but it's got a Pioneer head unit, and the original Bose speakers, and they seem SUPER touchy, like turning up the volume to only 6 or 8 on the head unit can make it SUPER loud! I've got to get that crap out of the doors soon because it's driving me nuts.

Okay you sort of glossed over the most important part.... So you snip the wires off the plug that goes INTO the amp... and then you splice those wires into the new wiring harness... is that right?

The link you provided to amazon , the harness is for 2001 and up . You might want to change it because it does not work with 99-00 miata

A total lifesaver today. Stereo had been cutting out on the 99 10AE. I deleted the Bose head unit for a Blaupunkt 3 years ago. I wasn't looking forward to running new wires for the new speakers. I owe you lunch. Can I paypal you a few bucks for your help? Thanks again.

Which wires go to the tweeters? I'm about to pull my Bose speakers as well. I really dont want to cut the harness up that much, is there a way this can be avoided as well?

the tweeter wires should be the same wires..they just split at the door. my kickers have the tweeters built in and the factory ones are long gone

hey i have a 2001 miata with the bose speakers and i hooked up the radio and it has power but nothing is coming out of the speakers. I am new to this and thought that i could do it with no problems but it’s never that easy. Any suggestions??

How do you disconnect the connector on the Bose amp? I feel like something is going to break when I try disconnecting it(the one way back behind heater controls) my 01 Bose with an aftermarket head unit is making a clipping/shorting noise when I go over bumps but just checked the wired at the head unit and doors and they seem fine. Next up I guess is bypass the amp to see if that was my issue

There's a tiny ass clip on the inside of the harness (closest to the heater controls) took me an hour to find it..🤦‍♀️

Eric Rem I finally did it!! Yea took me forever too, and what’s worse was getting the jumper wires (on Bose plug) to stay in place while I was installing them-_- my hands weren’t meant for those tiny spaces lol ima try to run new speaker wire from an amp(fingers crossed) and never deal with those connectors again hah
