Bosch Dishwasher Fix (workaround) - Stops barely into the wash cycle - and says all clean!

I found a "fix" or workaround for our Bosch dishwasher that runs for a couple of minutes and then says the dishes are clean although the dishes are dry and dirty as ever. Be sure to subscribe to Morgan Madness: goo.gl/7CGX0T
A shout out to Hotrodchevy56 who tipped me onto figuring out this work around on his video "Bosch dishwasher runs 5 mins then says clean. I found a work around!." ( • Bosch dishwasher runs ... ). My workaround is slightly different from his.
I hope this helps you, whether it's my version or his, it's nice to hear that water running in the dishwasher again with out paying for a new one!

    Thank you! We have the exact same problem with our Bosch, and we’ve gone through the exact same series of workarounds. Tonight was the night we tried switching the cycles and restarting the dishwasher 15, 20, 25 times, to no avail. So I went online and came across your video and your solution seems to be working! Hopefully this will buy us at least a few more months of clean dishes. I’d rather not have to do kitchen renos, even minor ones, during the pandemic. Fingers crossed. Thank you for your video. 😊

    POSSIBLE FIX ! READ ON! - I discovered this work around and used it for years on my Bosch. I loved my Bosch so was willing to do it. But my OCD kicked in this last month and I decided I'd fix it or get rid of it. I'm pretty mechanically inclined so took DW out, tipped it over and checked everything. At first all looked good. I noticed that the circ pump was the last thing that ran before the unit stopped and showed the clean light. My particular unit does not have a digital readout, but I had recently read about someone that was getting and E24 and E25 on their units with displays and the fix was the circulation/heat pump. I guess the dishwasher does a power on self test and if the circ/heat pump pulls too much of a load (amps), it assumes it's bad and throws the error. On units without display, the code is the clean light after a couple minutes. I decided to take my pump off and opened it up and noticed that the bearings and shaft were pretty worn and didn't turn very well. It was "wobbly". A new circ/heat pump costs $200 which is pretty expensive but less than a new DW. But I decided to take the risk and found used on on ebay for $50. I just installed it today and guess what? IT TOTALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. It sounds better when it washes now. I am guessing that because these are heat pumps and pump a lot of very hot water, the part is wearing out quickly. I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but thought I'd put it out there. I'm gong to spread the news because there are a lot of people that are experiencing this issue and perhaps this is the fix for the majority of them.

    It's not an easy fix, but your analysis based on my own experience is spot on. In my case, I ended up just buying a cheaper Whirlpool dishwasher. But after seeing how cheaply built it is, I regret not biting the bullet and replacing the circulation pump on my Thermador (same as Bosch).

    That's an amazing diagnosis. I'm sure it's worth $50. Not sure about $200 for mine. My machine is over 10 years old now and a new Bosch is between $550 and $1,000 depending on the model. I just replaced a door seal and I'm imagining that other things will start failing soon. So what your excellent analysis tells me is to start watching for a sale on Bosch dishwashers.

    Just opening and closing the door on the 3rd starup cycle works on my SHE4AP05UC I think this might be caused by a bad float switch (water overflow protection, starts up drain pump eventhough there's no water in the bottom of dishwasher) or bad control board.

  • @ajussiwannabe
    @ajussiwannabe Жыл бұрын

    This workaround didn't work for me so I hired a repairman. The first guy was stumped but the second guy I hired diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes. My Bosch dishwasher was NOT filling the bottom of the washer with water quickly enough and the central board decided to shut down the cycle. Apparently, my Bosch dishwasher's original inlet valve was failing and not pumping enough water to start the wash cycle. This, according to my repairman, is a common problem with Bosch and he normally keep a few different models of Bosch inlet valve in his repair truck. My Bosch, however, was built in Germany and was not easy to find a replacement inlet valve, but my repairman managed to find one through his friend who also services Bosch. The actual replacement of the inlet valve is fairly simple and only require simple tools, and there are instruction videos on KZread. If anyone finds their Bosch dishwasher is not filling enough water, then they should suspect the inlet valve.

My model is over 10 years old, and for me, I didn't have to wait until it starts the second 'attempt', but simply open and close it during the silence after the first 'attempt' is over. Here IS The ACTUAL REASON and LASTING FIX: The problem is that there is a clog or partial obstruction "somewhere" . The issue is finding the clog. (Wait you say...I cleaned out the filter, pump cover, pump impeller...etc. then I cleaned out the drain hose ...100% checked and no clog). Maybe...Well....so did I. I shop vacuumed hose and sump and it and blew it out with a compressor...Dishwasher and Drain hose verified...Clean as a whistle. But..I experienced all the trouble and inconsistent pumping/Washing/Pumping?"Clean" Light behavior that others did. Cleaning out the filter and then resetting by shutting off the breaker for a few minutes usually works. Also the work around like this KZread may work many times (Thanks Morgan). But eventually this is not working. My filter was clean from a few weeks back.... so when it showed up again I was perplexed. Also, The clog can be partial and just causing some back pressure to trigger the stop and clean light. Then you think all is clean....AND my sink runs good so the drain & trap must be clear...right? . Here is the more nefarious issue that is similar to people with disposal units. I pulled the hose off of the Y again...That Y joint is the last point in the path that was untested...I gently put a screwdriver in there and felt a little resistance...then pushed a little harder and POP.... a little clog in the Y adapter fell down into the trap! Voila!. I have a low Y connector where the hose connects just above the trap. The clog can get pushed out a bit and with a little siphoning or the trap backing up a bit that crud can get pushed or sucked back into the Y.... causing the problem to seem fixed and then come back. Even though the hose itself is not clogged (Ensuring a high loop on the drain hose ...or installing and Air Gap mechanism...helps this issue a bit). The point is that when the pump keeps cycling on and off and water is sitting in the bottom with and early stop ...and the "clean" light on....the path to and from the pump is blocked or partially blocked. Go from one end to the next and make 100% sure it is ALL clear. If the pump has back pressure or a clog it will try a few times and then trigger a stop and clean light!. That is it.

    Share something i did: 1 turned off and on circuit breaker 2 deep cleaned filter till clearly see the pump motor inside the dishwasher. 3 disassembled the pump motor from bottom of the dishwasher to check if there was something stuck on 4 cleaned the door’s seal part of two layers where you can see dirt or white detergent powder. 5(didn’t do yet, but can be next step)checked and cleaned all tubes to see if they were clogged. My dishwasher’s sanitize light flashing/ blinking. That means the water is not hot enough or the door is not sealed or closed properly. i think if the tube is clogged and motor cannot pump the water completely, so the water is still in the bottom inside the dishwasher, which is leading to the inside temperature does not reach to 49 ‘C degrees and that is why the sanitize light is blink telling the hot water temperature is not hot enough.

    I have the exact same dishwasher, mine was doing the exact same problem, This did not work for me so I decide to try and fix it. What I found was under the dishwasher there is a safety float switch with a plastic housing around it. For some reason dirt got built up under the safety float switch, cleaned the housing so now the float switch is not pushed in. Working perfectly now. I wish I took pics and a video but I didn’t. Had this exact problem and saw the comments about this being an inlet valve problem. Other KZread videos show how to replace the inlet valve but nowhere mentions the Biltron Type 88 Inlet valve that is integrated into the the inlet water pipe. If you have one of these is is most likely the cause of this problem. It was in my case.

Seems like it might be some sort of widespread issue with Bosch.

    Same problem, I Have an older model Bosch #SHE3ARSXUC. I changed the inlet valve with a OEM part "40$". I found by vacuuming the drain area below filter basket and drain hose it started working all the lines have been disconnected and cleaned out. ( Still defaults to clean) ..I am going to change the float switch next and see what happens. Perhaps this is the issue? Perhaps there is a weak signal telling the inlet valve to open and start the filling process? a faulty float switch? .. I'm baffled why it works after the drain line is completely cleared but unfortunately I can't figure out what the root cause is. I can fix most things and I will not give up. My Wife is starting to look at new dishwashers at 1000,$ so therefore I'm under a lot of pressure to get this problem solved🤣🤑

    We had these exact symptoms too. If you have these symptoms, check the water pressure to your house. Our issue was this. Water pressure was 110psig which was way too high. This damaged the water inlet valve on the dishwasher. This valve also restricts flow into the dishwasher, it does not appear to be a simple on/off valve. Our solution, replace house's water pressure regulator, and then replace water inlet valve to dishwasher and now it works again every time. To troubleshoot, buy the $10 gauge at home depot and make sure your water pressure is between 50 and 80 psig. Also, remove the kick plate on bottom of dishwasher and look for evidence of water leak on the left side of the dishwasher. The water inlet to the dishwasher is on the left side, and there is a 1 inch square open vent on it, in our case, water pressure way too high, it leaked out of this vent onto floor whenever water inlet valve was energized. My speculation is that too much water was going in, and the safety float triggered and shut the dishwasher down, but this is a guess. If you have an external valve feeding dishwasher that you can adjust, partially close the valve to restrict the water flow. If you reduce the flow and the dishwasher starts working again, this is likely your issue. It's easiest to tell if you can pull the dishwasher half way our, then you can watch the water as it enters. Summary: Symptoms: after starting dishwasher, it goes through a drain cycle, then starts filling, then goes through a drain cycle, then beeps and says it's clean. This happens over a 5 to 10 minute period. Things to check: 1) your house's water pressure. If high, you need to fix this because it will damage everything else eventually (think hot water heater) 2) Once that is fixed, replace the water inlet valve to dishwasher. This costs about $40.

    Just a point of clarification. The water inlet i refer to with the vent where it leaks is not the water inlet valve. The water inlet valve (with the electrical connector) is the defective part. the water goes through this, though a tube, to the water inlet (a big plastic piece) this piece is the one with the vent where it leaks, but the water inlet valve with the solenoid and electrical connector is what needed to be replaced.

    Ok so I had these symptoms but this workaround did not help me. I did determine my issue though: recent switched to Members Mark soap pods and they had caked the basin where the pump suctions so badly that the pump could not empty the dishwasher. So I cleaned it all out, took apart, air compressed the drain line all the way to the disposal, then it worked fine. Don't use Member Mark pods! They suck!

    What seems to work for me is to turn the water on in the sink, the same drain side that the dishwasher drain hose is on. Keep it running till you hear the dishwasher start to actually wash the dishes (a couple minutes). Seems to do the trick, the other options dont seem to work for me. I also heard that adding a gallon or so of water to the dishwasher to start the drain cycle works as well.

    The disposal has a piece that needs knocked out for it to drain. Pull the hose off and shove a screwdriver or a wooden spoon handle in the dishwasher drain port on the disposal and give it a whack. you will feel something give way. that was the knock out. put the drain hose back on good to go

  • @Onewayto2024
    @Onewayto20243 жыл бұрын

    Your usage of the quotes around the word "fix" is accurate and it's good that you did that. I also tried your "fix" and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. A problem with it is that it altogether eliminates the ability of using the timer. We usually turn our dishwasher's timer on for a 3 hour delay starting at 11PM because even through the machine is supposedly soundproofed it's still pretty noisy and can be heard into the den. So, using the workaround I'd have to turn the machine on manually at 2AM and hope for the best... What I found - just today - was that the small white plastic "baffle" that clips over the inlet to the drain impeller wasn't seated all the way. It wasn't rattling or loose, it was just not fully seated. I removed it and pushed it down as far as it could go, then pushed the little vertical plastic "tower" until the small tab went into a hole and made a distinct SNAP! Put the round screen & filter back in, turned the machine on and - SUCCESS. It ran perfectly. I even ran the machine again right afterwards - still fine. I have no idea how this baffle came loose. I think what is happening with this weird issue is that the baffle directs the drain water in a pretty direct manner. If this drain water doesn't flow properly through the drain hose at a certain rate, something picks up on this and causes the machine to just stop during the drain cycle and give you the dreaded "premature Clean" signal even if you've got quarts of filthy dishwater in the sump. Is there a flow sensor? I also want to add that after I snapped the baffle back into place I noticed the sound of draining water going into the fitting under my kitchen sink was MUCH more forceful and louder than before. Higher flow. Whatever it is this fixed my problem permanently.

    Does anyone know specifically what the problem or what part is needed to be replaced? This is the exact issue my Bosch dishwasher has. Runs first two "cycles" and then shows as a "clean". I've been using the workaround now for over a year but it's getting kind of boring to do so. We considered just buying another dishwasher, unfortunately I have a small under cabinet area and the Bosch dishwasher is all that I can find that has the same depth.
