I had that 12v bosch for a while and though it did do the job, having to go slower than with a bigger jigsaw ended up being the most noticeable factor, and why I sold it. I use an 18v now (Milwaukee M18 barrel grip) and love it. Plenty of power, fast cutting, convenience of cordless. Like you said though, occasional users would be fine with the 12v where the power and speed limitations aren't as big a factor. I do prefer barrel grip over the D handle; I feel that it gives you more control.

I just bought myself one today £64.99 very impressed usually 18V guy, but I decided to diversified the range of my Bosch power tools. 😊

I've been using the 12v tools for years, the Drill (GSB12), Impact driver, Planer, Jigsaw and Circular saw are all fantastic, the only fault is that the circular saw lacks the oomph to cut full depth into wood. I recommend getting the bigger Ah batteries, they're expensive but the runtime is so much better.

Had my eye on the corded model. I guess I'll have to pick one up!

I’m liking them.

I'm all-in on the 12v system and the jigsaw was one of my first purchases. I needed something I could take to B&Q to cut down stuff in the car park and at £120 inc. battery it seemed like a good way to go. How useful this has become was a huge surprise I use it all the time. Dust collection is not great with the supplied nozzle due to poor airflow, in my view, but adequate enough to deal with fine stuff. I would strongly suggest you look at the angle grinder in the range. It's superb after a viewer of one of my vids recommended it. Anyway great little review. Take care. K.

Hi Mat I am a kitchen fitter and I use mine daily I have the jigsaw multi tool impact driver and combi drill and the circular saw and a work light I too have upgraded battery’s to 6ah they are a brilliant piece of kit the multi tool is the starlock system so the blades are expensive but really good cheers

I already have the angle grinder and random orbital sander on the 12v platform and have just ordered this jigsaw as well! Glad you like it, seems I won't be disappointed. Bought it to cut a sheet of 18mm MDF. Still holding out on the small circular saw and router but I want them! Also probably getting the oscilating multi-tool too at some point. Really liking this 12v Bosch platform! They are so small and adorable!

Great Video Matt. I've had Bosch jigsaws for over 30 years starting with a green 240v one which I bought when still at school (I still have it and it works) and never had one fail. Whilst I use the black and yellow 18v platform for most of my heavier site work I also have Bosch 18v and much prefer my 18v jigsaw for more accurate cutting. I have seriously considered the Bosch 12v platform and almost bought a full kit last year in prep for fitting a decent run of 24 kitchens and then found myself perusing the range again yesterday. I like the multi head drill, planer and router in the 12v range as well as the barrel grip jigsaw for scribing end panels etc. I have the similar design Erbauer 12v drill and impact driver which is about 5 years old now and sees use most days if 2nd fixing, fitting kitchens, snagging or for general use in the workshop or around the home. Interested to see if you expand your Bosch 12v collection further.

That multi head drill driver does look great

I think the bosch pro 12V lineup is great for woodworking if you're not doing framing or big stuff like that. I have a drill, impact, jigsaw, mini circ saw and rotary tool. Next will probably be the angle grinder. I think they're just fine 95% of the time, and so tiny/light it's a pleasure to use them. And when I need more power, I go corded. And they're on sale ALL the time.

Yes you can get some good deals

The vac attachment works well if you are doing really fine cuts, or when you are going slow and need to really see the line.

You've covered some good points there Matt. It's ideal being lighter for repetitive work easier on you arm over long periods.

I've had one for over a month haven't been able to figure out how to get the blade in That's why I came here It's good to see that there's a dust thing for it I'm going to look for that Looks like a tailpipe Actually pick mine up at Tractor Supply For 15 on the reduced rack And once I get To dust pipe I'm going to list it on eBay For the whole jalopy

Had one of these for a while. The dust collection works enough to see the cutting line but because it's flat the vacuum attached gets stuck on edges. Probably best to use blow port of vacuum, if you have one,to blow dust clear freehand. I don't use the jigsaw that much. It's okay but get the 18v first unless you're cutting thin materials. Also look at hobby bandsaws and scroll saws

Mate I have an old mains powered blue Bosch. It has a twiddly thing on the top to realise the blade. Yours looks a breeze in comparison. I like the jig saw a lot though, easy to drive I have drill driver Bosch 12v. Great little driver. Clutch works really well driving in screws for plaster board without popping the paper as it is nice and consistent and easy to work with over head as it is light. My only grip, a small one LED does not stay on after the trigger is push to see what you doing

Try using the 12 V one upside down which I believe is what is designed for it it works for me so much better I hated it when I first got it then I started doing this and it’s a totally different beast

What an interesting little jigsaw, it’s to jigsaws what palm routers are to plunge routers by the looks of it (if that makes sense). It would be interesting to see the performance of the other 12v tools in the range. I’m off for a Google to see what they have. Thanks!

Hi Matt, that was a great working review, I have the Bosch battery powered skill saw and also two Bosch battery drills, and I love them all, but nothing beats powered tools, there is a place for them all in the tool cabinet, how's the new house? Take card and keep safe.

I also got one from Amazon warehouse with no dust extractor. But sent it back as on Black Friday a new one was the same price as used. Perhaps you got the one I had?! Anyway I love the 12v system. I can stuff so much into a single tool bag really handy. And the mini circular saw fits on standard festool type tracks straight out of the box. Selling quite a lot of my makita 18v as a result, the Bosch does the job well enough for the odd job here and there.

The blade runs near to, but without ever touching the splinter guard. It’s very handy for cutting up sheet goods in Wickes car park. Have to say though I’m keeping my makita 18v BL circular saw for cutting bigger timber

Hi thanks for the review. Is the angle of the base easy to set accurately? Are there stops for 15,30,45 deg?

I wonder if the dust collection would work better in reverse to blow dust away from the cut area?

It's take some finding but you can get a 12v and 18v bosch charger in one unit. Since you are already on the 18V platform it might save some space.

I have both jigsaws and several 12 volt drills. The mains jigsaw and the drills are great but I am disappointed with the 12 volt jigsaw. The switch is not user friendly, the blade sometimes falls out and it lacks power for anything bigger than 12 mm ply. No such issues with the mains version. Sorry I bought the 12 volt jigsaw.

Ha ha.....now you are on that 12 volt platform, I would suggest you look at the tiny 12volt router. It's brilliant for quickly running small rounds and chamfers, especially in tight areas you could never reach with a trim router.

Does the Bosch not come with a clear plastic cover for the front of the unit, the few times I've bothered to hook up the dust collection to my Parkside knock-off it's made quite a difference to the dust collection. Most of the time I just leave it off as I prefer to be able to see what I'm cutting!

Can you get an adaptor for this jigsaw to use with the FSN guide rail system?

My only comment is that the electric one is not so much more powerful but that the rpms are higher. You could likely get the battery one to produce the same rpms but to the detriment of the battery so slowing it down helps maintain battery life. You will also find an improvement in speed if you upgrade to a decent size battery. I don't use bosch myself but the Milwaukee and Dewalt kit all benefit from using bigger than the basic battery should you need that extra speed.

Matt do you ever get blade wonder with any of the Jigsaws you have used, I seem to get it a lot, have you any tips + a video would nice explaining it is poss !!!.

sure, it's fine... at least until you realize the chuck is not parallel to the edge and any attempt of cutting with the rail or straight edge means the blade is wandering A LOT 🤦 at least in my model, which I realized after screwing the kitchen counter 😭

Most Bosch 12v stuff I've used gets a pretty good performance boost with a 6ah battery. Have you tried it with your jigsaw? Does it make a difference?

bosch need to make brushless 12v jigsaw. you use jigsaw for delicate cuts, for great details not one straight cut like circular saw. lack of power cause it to vibrate, ruining your work. for circular saw, reciprocating saw or drill i'm good with non-brushless motor. smoother machine = cleaner cut. bosch should set their priority right.
