I have same saw. Its a great saw that I should use alot more. I will check to see how my breaks work on it.

jguse It's a great saw no doubt, and after 11 years this is the only issue I have ever had. I will post a short video tomorrow or tonight on how I fixed the problem.

I have had the axial glide for around 4 years and it makes a weird noise on start up and when the blade is almost stopped. Thought maybe it had something to do with the brake?

I have a Bosch 10” miter saw that also makes growling sound at startup. Did you ever determine the cause of your saw’s sound?

Hi Brian. I have a Dewalt Miter saw that I need to fix. I took it apart, replaced brushes, and put it back together. There is no electric brake effect at all. Will you be making a video on how you fix the problem?

Try replacing the switch assembly, fixed my issue. I sold this saw after it was fixed for the Bosch axial glide.

Did you end up repairing your blade brake or did u just replace the saw?

I changed out the switch assembly and brushes. A good cleaning and it was working again. I have since sold it and upgraded to the axial glide, it's a superior saw in regards to taking up less space and the linear action of the axial glide bearings is incredible.
