Borzoi puppy asking old cat to play

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

My borzoi puppy Tolkien (4 month old at this time) was trying to convince my 17 year old cat Pako to play with him, but he was not interested at all.
Don't worry, they live in peace, my dog likes the cat a lot, and the cat generally ignores him and never hurts him. It's just that this time the cat really wanted to be left alone (what the dog must learn to understand too)

We hit 300k views, it's kind of amazing ! 🙂 Initially I uploaded a few videos to make them easier to share with my friends, and somehow this video blew up. After that, I even changed the name of the channel and removed other videos that were not related to Tolkien or Pako haha. I hope this video continues to entertain, make people laugh, or just make everyone's day better for a long time yet. Big thank you from Pako, Tolkien and me ❤

You're absolutely right. If it were overwhelmed or super irritated, it would do what most cats would. Throw a fit, and *leave.* Cats are pretty famous for _not_ sticking around when they're majorly upset or irritated or if they can't feel in control. One of our two cats gets moody if people aren't sitting in their regular spots in the living room and will get up, leave the room in a huff, and refuse to come back unless my fiancee, the dogs and I are in our Approved Seating Arrangement. God forbid if I want to sit on the loveseat instead of the sofa. Pako the cat there is just setting some boundaries, and in a pretty calm way all things considered. Not even terribly annoyed, just "alright, if we're gonna share this bed so close together there need to be some rules here. STOP that already!" I'm sure that after 17 years this kitty has had more than one puppy in their life, lmao. They have that begrudgingly tolerant attitude cats who've been around puppies before have, the "Sigh. Great. Another one...well, not like it's my first rodeo. Let's get this kid squared away."

The funny thing about the softer sighthound breeds is how easily a cat can train them to give them respect. Our Irish wolfhound cross(she was half Irish wolfhound and half maremma) was raised on a farm when she was born so already had a basis for not having strong prey drive as both of her parents where livestock guardians(her mum and paternal uncle specifically guarded a flock of chickens) we brought her home and our cat taught her right quick what she accepted for interactions and within months they where wonderful friends our cat groomed her and the only time they quarreled was when our cat stepped on her as our cat has very sharp nails and kneads and our dog didn't like that and that always ended in our dog quickly getting up grumbling and walking away. When our dog got sick our one cat cuddled with her, they never cuddled she curled up over her front legs and cuddled after grooming her face like usual, she didn't live much longer she was an almost 10 year old giant breed but damn was she loved by our cats

That cat is EXACTLY how picture myself in like 40 or 50 years. He just looks like a grumpy grandpa. The look on his face and meowing sounds like he's giving the dog a lecture and talking about them good ol' days. xD 10/10 would take that cat.

The dog is so gentle yet playfully insistent, and easily demonstrates exactly what he wants; thats classical intelligence! dobermans also have this admirable trait. he wants to PLAY!! I would take him outside in the yard and throw a ball or frisbee for him!! then he can run and bounce and play!!
