This is why Jiraiya is a Sannin, he likes to act like a fool, & it works, because sometimes even the viewers forget that in everyday life he works as a spy/infiltrator, that’s how he figured out about the Akatsuki after getting intel that Orochimaru is a member of the Akatsuki

Jiraiya is one of those people who likes to act extremely dumb while being very observant. We have never actually seen Jiraiya's smartness except during his Hidden Rain infiltration, this is one of the best examples.

the Boruto/Neji stuff is especially touching when you consider that Boruto's name is a reference to Neji. Neji's name comes from "nejiru" which means "to twist" or "to screw" in reference to his 8 Trigrams Rotation. Boruto is supposed to sound like "bolt" which is the symbol on the back of his jacket which are commonly used in conjunction with screws

Looks like Jiraiya knows that it's an adult Sasuke from the future, why? Karna saw that Boruto was similar to Naruto and even his chakra was similar and could blend with Kurama's chakra, plus he could make Rasengan, it made Jiraiya think that they were both from the future, it seemed that Jiraiya also felt Sasuke's chakra in his body, but he only pretended -pretend not to know

Boruto really did inherit the 4ths genius

A possible way that Jiraiya could figure out Sasuke's identity would be this: No one was alerted by the Konoha security (that tracks infiltration of outsiders) when "two strangers from a different land" entered the village suddenly. It could only mean that those two belonged to Konoha (Boruto wasn't born yet but his chakra similarity with Naruto could possibly allow him to enter without triggering security, similar to Kashin Koji). This is a stretch but he also possibly took note of Sasuke's Kenjutsu while fighting Urashiki. It must have resembled Orochimaru's technique and it was a time when a young Sasuke had left the village to seek power from Orochimaru. Jiraiya probably connected these dots along with Boruto's resemblance to Naruto and his rasengan too.

It's not about being dumb you just don't think it's possible to see a time traveler.

Surprisingly, there is a filler episode with Borutos grandfather saying they changed the way of the Hyuga it's only one episode, but it shows how much Hinata's father really mellowed out
