Born says this was the first time he actually accepted being a judge since arriving in New York. He now thinks that it was a mistake given that he had no idea he would be the only judge for this jam. He felt much pressured through the whole thing deciding who is better and who is not based on his opinion only. After declaring Yass has won many pointed finger at him and started yelling and cursing at him. It was like as if everyone wanted to fight him or sth (even when he was on his way to the washroom). He says he believed Yass won because Yass was hitting more beats with the music where opposed to YNot was more of better moves and techniciality. For him music was more important. He did the call out and it was way longer this. After this event, Bboy Born disappointed only arriving in Bronx for few months and felt like the people he thought he were getting to know and were his friends turning back on him. He focused on graffiti instead.

3 vs 1 smoking, they should be thankful it was just toprock. Couldn't care less if born is 'a bad judge', that's a fault of the organisation & judge selection, after that there's nothing that can be done. As it stands, those 3 bboys calling him out completely embarrassed themselves, robbed or not.

First, toprock should not be separated from other elements and forming a battle and still called "toprock", but this is what already happened, rockdancing element should not be considered as a factor of decision, which yass used a lot in his rounds. Beyond that, i dont make any comments on whose rounds were better. If it's not "freestyle battle", then it should not contain other styles. It's like in a hiphop battle, hiphop dancers using concept from popping and animation, but it's def not okay to bring out a popping round and win the battle. Born is one of the best bboys, but majority of audience disagreed with him that nite, the callout is reasonable imo. It's a disrespectful thing to call out a judge, but respect is earned and could be lost.

It's just so fucking sad how some ppl can just say they just lost all respect for born over a "miscalculation." Something is obviously not right! Yass didn't do anything special, even if you go by the strict sense of what top rocking is according to Alieness. I my had disagreed with born judging.... That has nothing to do with the respect I have for him as a bboy. It's all love in the end. Well on my end and his we talk before he and that is all that matters. This is bboyin ppl get called out big deal. Also this is not the full call out.

If you're gonna challenge a breaker, then break! They didn't even hit down in that cypher once for 5 whole minutes. Being a good dancer doesn't make you a good judge. Doesn't change the fact the American scene got robbed of proper representation at juste debut this year. If it was just a normal jam it would sting a little bit less, but those results have consequence after the fact. not cool.

I'm just waiting until everyone realizes this. If b-boys want more structure in the competition aspect, it's never going to happen when they keep on putting non credible judges on panels just because of their name. Don't get me wrong, Born is NASTY, and he is credible to an extent. But the key to a good judge is BIAS. They have to be able to drop their own ideals, and embrace every element, every aspect of the dance. Clearly Born was focusing on burns throughout the competition, which to my understanding, is an element of the dance called UPROCK/rocking. Sure it comes into play when you toprock, but it is far from the only or main focus of toprock. Need an Uprock judge? Born is your guy. Need a Toprock guy? Born is not your guy.

Agree with that. I respect born as a dancer and he is a great bboy indeed but never got good recognition when it comes to judging. Sometimes I can see his thinking behind that judging not positive one but negative one. I still remember he gave Hong 10 2 out of 5 for musicality when he battled Issei.

IYA BUDIMAN actually...I do know Born. From when he still lived in Korea. Super chill dude, got nothin but love for the guy as a person. But. That is that, this is this. Still say he messed up the calls. The only person who can "mess up" a person's image is themselves. No one is above being called out on their mistakes, not even the president. You make decisions, you must live with the public backlash about it if they're not in good taste. That's what it means to be in a position of power at the top.

IMO they both did pretty well! Loved how he challenged born, maybe he saw a chance to call out a bboy he looked up to?
