I told them I'm a metalhead, and I was listening to this song on repeat, so I scribbled down the name of this song and gave it to her. @Betonoszlop -- dude I had no idea. I had only gotten into Borknagar through Winter Thrice, then Universal, and was hooked when I heard about the new album. But even though I had been a fan of Arcturus and Dimmu Borgir, I had no idea Vortex was in Borknagar (ok: again) as well. So this full dose of Arcturus extravaganza in Up North got me like "the fuck?". Awesome though. I guess on Winter Thrice, their keyboarder was more prevalent with his softer voice? I am only now beginning to distinguish between them.

@@MensHominis Dudo, Borknagar have 4 different singers- Vortex, Lazare, Garm , and Wintersorg. They only appear in certain eras/albums, as each mostly has another project or 2 to work on. I think it's a great idea, as it gives different albums different 'feels'. As far as I know, "Winter Thrice" is the only album that has them all. Better late to the party than never my man! And Arcturus slay. 😉

This song is simply amazing, a joyful and elevating musical trip. This is probably my favorite Borknagar song ever. I have been listening to Borknagar since 2000, when they released Quintessence. Colossus and The Stellar Dome ranked as my favorite songs, but I think Up North might top those. I find it extremely remarkable that after 25+ years as a band, Borknagar is pretty much in their prime, releasing songs as good as or even better than the past ones. There are very few and rare metal bands (or musicians in general) that we could say the same.

Absolutely amazing song!!! Please let this song be a guide line to all your future material. Dont be a kinda-black metal band. Be a norwegian power metal band with a cold nordic flavour. It suits you!

Yeah I'm definitely not interested in derailing this video with a Tool comparison but......no comparison. Thirteen years after "10000 Yawns" and they drop that new, virtually unlistenable (by me) album? This new Borknagar is outrageously good! Big shout out to the "oceans rise" throwback line too!

Tools an overrated mess everyone waits like fanboys and they released the same stinker as the last one rehashed riffs production qualities the mix it's like part 2 of nothingness the last album had more silence than actual music(atmosphere)lol borknagar has more talent in its 2 weakest members than tool as a whole bad comparison

No one captures the majestic nature of....well...nature better in their songs than Borknagar. Especially with Simen at his best. Just Listen to this or "colossus", for example. You might want to bathe in the sheer magnificence of music and words and think of the powerful planet we live on. Let's make it last!

Damn! This song is so pure and good! Lord Vortex in full effect! You can tell he is a Neil Young fan (that's good) the way he ends "fallen men go back to START" Very Neil young sounding! I hope they do more songs like this. Metal needs a new leader.
