Borah mountain! | A COMPLETE guide to Climbing Idaho's Highest Peak

So, I asked Susie if she wanted to climb mt. Borah over the weekend and here we are. I must have forgotten the experience 4 years ago because it is freakin' STEEP. Climbing Idaho's highest peak was nothing short of spectacular, however; I'm glad it's over.

Before attempting Borah last week, I watched literally every KZread video there is on the topic. The hike was BRUTAL for a 50+ guy but I summited! I can say, with absolute certainty, that this is the definitive video everyone who wants to attempt this hike needs to watch. The discussion about the 3 distinct phases of this climb is 100% accurate. One additional tip: After Chickenout, there is a brief stretch of flat trail before the final push. The final ascent is by far the steepest phase of the trail. I dropped my pack at this point and took a little food and water only, and it made that last stretch much easier.

Wow, thank you so much! I can't wait to show my wife all your kind words. Props off to you for summiting btw. This was such a hot year, I can't imagine doing it this year. That feeling of being on top of Idaho sure is hard to beat. Now that Borah has be tackled, what's next?

This is the first video I've watched from you, and I am impressed. I have been eye-balling Mt Borah for sometime now and really want to do it. "Freakin Steep" is an understatement according to the video, but that doesn't scare me ;) Chicken Out Ridge sure lives up to its name and I will take your advice to take it slow. Giving me the motivation to FINALLY add this to my 2024 365 mile hiking challenge list, and to join the club. Looking forward to watching additional videos you'll have done. May the road rise to meet you.

If you have access to a gym, LOTS of the stair climber/master is really helpful. Covering lots of miles on a trail is great too. Make sure your hiking shoe have great support because standing on rock all day will wear your feet out. Get a early start to the hike. Some people start as early as 4am to you avoid the afternoon heat. Stay hydrated of course. My goal next year is to camp at the summit. I think that will be a totally wild ride. I've heard of people camping before chicken out ridge. Keep me posted on how you do! Thanks for watching
