Boots too tight? Here's how to stretch them without RUINING the leather

For more ways to stretch your boots, read this → bootspy.com/stretching-calf-b...
To stretch your boots, you don’t need to take them to a cobbler.
There are a few methods you can try at home.
You can buy a shoe-stretcher-a sometimes costly yet brilliant investment if you need to stretch multiple pairs of boots. This is my personal favorite method because you're not adding anything to the leather.
But you can also get a shoe stretching spray, which will relax the leather, though may damage your boots if you stretch them too much too quickly.

    Great info, I brought a boot stretcher and it made my redwing 875 moc toe more comfortable around the toes. I don't like the last on that boot, but the stretcher made the boot useable.

    @patrickmiao1698 same thing for me. Toe box is miserable and I don't even have wide feet. Couldn't go up in size anymore due to heel. Did you stretch the complete toe box or did you use one of the bunion plugs he shows at the pinky toe area?

    How about slightly stretching the instep? The boot fits, but I’d love to be able to slip into it hands free (UGG Koolaburra classic)

    You soak a rag in 1/3 Isopropyl and 2/3 water and shove it tight into the toe area. Not sure for how long. Then the stretcher for overnight.

    I had wide feet as well as high bridges, how do you recommend stretch out the bridge of the boot to accommodate my high bridge on my feet? Does this do it or does this only stretch out the toe area of the boot?

    Boot stretching spray can affect the dyes and pigments in the leather, yes, but it can’t actually damage the leather itself in any meaningful or structural way. You need to check where you get your information, because putting misinformation like this out there will cause newbies to do damage to their boots, and it’ll be down to your poor advice. Not cool dude.

    Soooo whats your point, so are you recommending people to use the spray then? I’m assuming not.. so what’s the problem?

  • @ravencanis8998

    @ravencanis8998

    Жыл бұрын

    @@marzo7752 I *do* in fact recommend using the spray, after testing it on a small inconspicuous area of the shoe first to test whether or not it will change the colour of the shoe at all. The way it works is that it relaxes the fibres so that they stretch more naturally, and decreases the risk of the fibres breaking and/or tearing, which would decrease the lifespan of the leather. Having worked as a cobbler, I’ve seen many a pair of shoe where people have tried to stretch them and gone too hard too fast, and whilst the leather itself hasn’t split or torn, you can feel that the grain has been negatively impacted, because they’ve dry stretched them, as opposed to letting the fibres relax and stretch in a more natural and sustainable way.
