Boost Gauge Install! - Air Vent Mount - DC-3D-Design - Turbosmart - Fiesta ST180

Extremely easy to fit once the vent itself is out! The vent is a difficult one, do your best to get it out as i did in the video, if not you can always remove and try not to break the surround, then the vent itself is easy to remove as it starts to fall out.

Superb video, I just love honest clips that show mistakes cos let’s face it we learn most things in life by making mistakes 👍
OK', so I had a fun packed Saturday today fitting my boost gauge. I really wasn't looking forward to removing the vent pod as I've seen what a pain in the ass it is to get out . Can I just say mate that you've done it again. Your advice to remove the chrome ring first by gently prising it out worked an absolute dream. I even managed to remove it without it breaking. The pod is then easy to pry out from the inside and the job becomes a doddle with everything un damaged and ready to return to stock if needed.Thanks again mate for another video which saved me a lot of time and hassle. Your channel is really becoming a point of reference for me. Cheers 👍

The clips are called wago connectors. Pop it on Google and you will find some :)
How much air flow did you loose ??
Do you have a part number for the new silver surround, see ones for Mk6 etc on ebay, is it the same? Good Video too

I bought a Mk7 surround and managed to fit, I don't know if the Mk6 fits but by the looks of it they are all the same? Don't think they've changed there air vent design in like 20 years. Sorry I can't be more help
Can you provide a link for the Splice connections & the wire clip joiners? Cheers 👍🏼

Check on eBay for t splice or tap wire connectors, you'll find the ones I use. In my full boost gauge install video which I done previously in 2/3 parts I go into detail the electrical wiring side :)

Wire clip joiners are called wagu connectors :)

Left side of the engine there is a sensor, you have use it in there. Might be called a MAP sensor. You'll see it it's just under the cover left side top

Is this only suitable for aftermarket turbo's? Or will it work on the O.E.M one? Cheers!

Any turbo :) at the time of install I had the stock. Now on a bigger turbo :)

Cheers dude. Is it worth it for the stock turbo? - I cant afford the bigger turbo's 🤣 & I'm guessing you went for the psi one initially for stock?
@CarRambles
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah still PSI now. Prefer it as the numbers are bigger lol. It's just something to look at, so it's completely up to you if you want it 🤷🏻♂️
I'm guessing you are completely eliminating that air vent or is it still functional? And if is still functional wouldn't it melt the wires with the heat?... Other than that helped alot thank you man
@CarRambles
4 жыл бұрын
It's functional. It still has air vents around the side :) I highly doubt the heat will get anywhere near to melting point. :) Hope this helps

Would of look and been easier with. Bigger gauge that has a ring 😅
Is the heat out of the vent bad for the gauge?
@CarRambles
2 жыл бұрын
I doubt it gets hot enough to efffect anything
Does the hot air still come through the vent
@boilerhousegarage
10 ай бұрын
Yes, that's what they're designed for. The open vent surrounding the gauge will still let heater/aircon air past.
Is it annoying having look around your steering wheel and hand to see it? That's something that has put me off fitting one.
