    Cosmo I retired 12 years ago and started a carpet cleaning business. My wife kept encouraging me to take her and out and see the world. I worked instead. She died three years ago now I wish I would have. you have inspired me to finally leave all that work behind me and finally do it. Thanks, great relaxing video. Good luck

    While people may think $17,500 may be a high price, you could easily spend half that on custom kitchen cabinets for your house(that probably aren't as well engineered as the trailer galley, and only serve to hold stuff). Now add in the costs of designing the Teardrop to be D.O.T compliant, marketing etc. and the price doesn't seem so bad. Of course for those that still think it is too high, there is always the used market or DIY route. On the Subaru's off road capabilities, there are 2" lift kits available that give you better ground clearance if someone really needed to go places a little more remote. Generally speaking, in stock form, they are more than capable of getting you anywhere you would want to tow a standard teardrop.

  • @CosmoWeems

    @CosmoWeems

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Very Much James. I am new to off road and willing to not try and get everywhere. The lift kit is a good tip in case I start feeling limited. However I go for the mtn bike when I think of getting into rough stuff :). Ya the trailer was an excellent investment for me that is returning priceless experiences with minimal overhead. For this trip, gas, tolls, and food and all expenses added up to $45 a day. That's cheaper than staying home for me! Regards =Cosmo

  • @CosmoWeems

    @CosmoWeems

    6 жыл бұрын

    I could have reduced this a bit. Here are the numbers$89 Food includes departure food loaded in trailer, buying some groceries, $153 Fuel Departing and returning with full tank - just fuel spent on this trip$53 Highway tolls $84 Dining out $379 Total or $54 a dayI could have eliminated the dining out - but I was on vacation and getting lazy towards the end of the trip=Cosmo!

I’m a retired Air Force, and a retired from Corporate America. Now I’m a sculpture of clay Manley fine figures and now am restarting water coloring. Mashed avocado tasting better makes perfect logical sense since the more liquified a certain food is the more taste buds will receive flavor. It's the reason why melted cheese generally tastes better than when it's in a solid state.

    That is the greatest thing I have heard in a while. The squirrel was bombing you with pine cones. That is one smart squirrel. The great thing about silence in nature ( no human sound) is it really puts you in perspective of where you fit in the scheme of things with mother nature and how tiny we really are. You talked about slowing down now that you don't work. That is why when you go on vacation you need at least two weeks when you work. 3 days to detox your mind off work then a weeks vacation and 3-4 days to be home to get your body back into gear for work.

    Like the little teardrop camper. Saw your visit to the factory. Do you think the maker might be willing to up grade the suspension and tires just a bit, to withstand the rigors of off road? I would hate to hurt the terrific little camper. Seems he a stickler for quality control. Your trips are an excellent camper presentation. You do some gentle off road stuff, absolutely beautiful trips, much appreciated.

    . I believe Vistabule offers a heavy duty package from added lift to heavy duty suspension Ya I am not rock hopping. The trailer seems pretty durable - the car is not built for the rough stuff. But it did get me where I needed to go (without repair bills ha ha ha). Check with Vistabule they spoke about a rig they set up with oversized tires extra lift and beefy suspension and full sized spare tire.

    @@CosmoWeems I stayed up super late last night watching your videos lol. I think I finally dozed off around 3am. I have always been interested in those mini campers, now I know about them lol. Looks like the guy who is the brain child of them was actually looking for a way to make a living from his favorite hobby, camping and so the genius did lol. I would have never thought that they cost as much as they do. I fiddled around on their website designing my little camper and I was at 35k when I realized, I can buy a fixer upper house for the same price lol. I live in rural Texas now and the homes are fairly cheap around here. I really like the camper that guy in the desert had. That was impressive. When I moved from NY I moved to Louisiana for awhile and I got caught up in Hurricane Katrina and Rita and lost pretty much everything so I spent a year living like a vagabond but I was doing hotels. Hey Fema and my insurance paid for the hotels so why not enjoy yourself while you have to be miserable was the way I looked at it. Lol. Actually I couldn't find a empty hotel room anywhere in Louisiana for months so I just took off on the road and had myself a bit of fun. Lol. I wish now that I had bought a camper instead but those were impossible to find at the time to.

    @@CosmoWeems oh yeah Lake Luzerne has a lot of white water rafting companies in the area. The Hudson is absolutely beautiful up in the area. We used to spend our summers laying in the Hudson and in Lake George. Just watch for the tourist traps in the lake George area. Many of those places triple the price after memorial day. A ton of French Canadians spend their entire summers in the area and sadly they drop any amount of money and that seems to encourage the prices going so high up. But if you stay clear of Lake George and most towns on the east side of the thru-way (87) you should be OK. I know Corinth has some free camping spots that you might want to drive around and look for next time you are in the area. Beautiful village and beautiful people there. I hated moving away from NY.

    The Subi has 8.75" of ground clearance. The Tacoma has 9.4" of ground clearance. I think I could have gotten the Outback (or Tacama) in but the trailer follows a different line of approach. Once in there is room to turn around in (n my case).
