The Passenger (and Stella Maris) is really a sort of culmination of McCarthy's whole oeuvre, but even as a McCarthy superfan who loves most of his work, I wholeheartedly believe The Passenger is his worst. So I wouldn't feel too bad.

great that u keep doing book reviews. 1 small critique with scripted stuff. i think u need to change your setup slightly bcs when u read u look too much to the side. it feels kinda weird and less engaging than when u go from the top of your head and look into camera. i am not sure if there is an easy fix to your setup or not just wanted to let u know. otherwise i think the format is great bcs it helps with picking up some book recomendations and hopefully doesnt hurt your channel.

I actually really like bulk reviews like this because I’m someone who doesn’t really click on singular reviews for things I haven’t read/watched unless I am ACTIVELY questioning if they’re worth reading/watching. But with this I can get relatively concise reviews for a bunch of things and will be more likely to find new stuff or get them on my radar.

loved the new format, I think your scripting is good, really clear and concise without feeling robotic at all. The only improvement i could suggest is this; it seemed like you were looking off to the side slightly to read your script - is it possible to display the script for yourself closer to the camera? Other than that, just really glad to hear your takes on some great books. Love what you do.

Blame!, being so dialogue-less, is a story that thrives on discussion in my opinion. You can formulate your own story by filling in the missing details on your own, and after doing that you can go online and see how others interpret and understand it .Its the sort of discussion/ searching blogs online for a book like i've never had for a book this "short" online. Hours upon hours of content in videos and threads online showcasing different experiences that people have had with it really exited me to knowing what other theory/view someone could came at it with. I love seeing that you're interested in it just like so many others, and hope you enjoy the discussions online just as much as I did if you ever decide to look them up ^^ Also, Pronunciation for Nihei would be [Knee-hey] to correct you on that.

Yes! Please keep talking about books. I love the idea of talking about multiple books in this format instead of singular book reviews. It gives viewers more incentive to click on the video because maybe you read a book I did. If it's a singular book review of a book I didn't read, I will never watch it(sorry). But I will watch this video because maybe you'll touch upon a book I liked. It makes more sense this way to recap the books you enjoyed in one video than have multiple underperforming videos. I love the new format and hope everyone else enjoys it as well. I just finished the Mistborn trilogy, The Way of Kings and started Words of Radiance this month. It's been a pretty good month of reading. Great video as always and keep having a positive impact on the community! Have a wonderful day!

That's a fair point about the Eisenhorn trilogy. Warhammer books suffer from what's referred to as "bolter porn" by the community, basically they exists to sell miniatures for the tabletop game and therefore must have a lot of actions reflecting the wargame. There are however a handful of books managing to go beyond this bombastic action pace, but they're generally not the best for a newcomer to the universe since they rely on good knowledge of the lore most of the time. The Lords of Silence, The Reverie, the Infinite and the Divine, or the Vaults of Terra series are great reads amongst other. I do hope you try other books.

I love monthly wrap ups!!!! They’re one of my favorite things to watch. I’m not bothered by scripting in general, but it is a bit distant when you’re reading the script and not making eye contact with the camera. Maybe show some fan art or different editions of the books as a cutaway, so we don’t see your eyes, or maybe use the script as notes and paraphrase instead of being tied to the screen, if that makes sense.

I haven't read too many Warhammer books, but I found books that revolve around a singular character much more interesting especially when other factions in the universe and how they relate to the character. Most of these character novels are one-offs but tell stories that are good examples of who they are in that time period. If I had to recommend any they would be... Ghazghkull Thraka: Prophet of the Waaagh! (Very good depiction of how Orcs work in Warhammer) Alpharius: Head of the Hydra (One of the Primarchs, told from their pov from before the Horus Heresy)

I agree with recommending Alpharius. Also on that topic you and Daniel should check out Legion by Dan Abnett. That is about the alpha legion and some of their mysterious human operatives taking on events that push them to a decision that will impact the next 10.000 years. I love the fact that the narrative and narrators are very very untrustworthy in a way that fits a legion that is built around lies, espionage and subterfuge. One of my favorite legions and I still don't know where they stand in terms of humanity vs chaos. I personally err for the third way where they set out to balance the scales between all super powered sides with no clear winner ultimately to keep humanity alive in the end. Thank for pointing out Ghazghkull Thraka. I have not yet read it and will put the book on my list now.

Really glad you're looking for ways to keep doing book reviews. I originally found your channel while looking for Age of Madness reviews and while I do enjoy a lot of your other videos , books reviews remain what I look to you for the most. I hope this new format works out.

I love the format of monthly reviews. Highly enjoyed this one as well! In batch reviews I watch reviews of books I'm not particularly interested in and wouldn't have watched as a solo review. Sometimes the reviews change my mind though and the books turn out to be amazing reads. So please keep them coming!

It's a shame traditional book reviews don't do so well for you. It's how I got into a lot of series on your channel. Green Bones Saga, First Law, Cosmere, Book of the Ancestor trilogy, and yes...The Wheel of Time (Currently on my first read through and am on Lord of Chaos). Still, I get the need to adapt and I hope this format works great for you!

Blame! low key inspired all the liminal horror like the backroom aesthetic we see today (granted with more cyberpunk). While the sketchy nature of some panels could be laziness it also could be adding to the aesthetic of liminality and post-human or a-human architecture

I love book reviews that are spoiler free and done well which this channel absolutely does. Maybe this scripted version isn't for me as I enjoy the more organic "conversational" way of doing them but I think trying different things and different approaches to this should be applauded. Shows versatility and open to new ideas and ways to reinvent yourself. It's great.

I love the format! I have to admit, I often skip the reviews of books I'm not that interested in reading (or only watch a few first minutes, to get the general idea), so shorter, condensed ones are great for me. I'm not entirely sold on the scripted video tough. It sounds different, when you read your thought - I don't hate it, but prefered the older version. Maybe a mix is an option?

Book reviews are how I found your channel. I like the detailed 1 book ones but bulk reviews are a nice change as well. I didn't even know Night Angel got another book. Perhaps you can take polls on what books from your bulk reviews stand out the most and do single book reviews about them if you plan to keep doing any. But that's the algorithm. Can't fight it forever. Thank you for the hard work you put in.

Great to hear that you're bringing back book reviews! While I appreciate the scripted format for its ability to convey your points effectively, I also enjoy your off-the-cuff reviews because they feel more natural. I found it a bit jarring to see you reading from a laptop screen, especially since I'm used to your videos being more spontaneous and including last-minute footage. However, I do recognize the benefits of a scripted format. Perhaps a combination of both styles would be the best approach? Thank you for all your hard work!

I do like this scripted review over the none scripted, and if more batch reviews means you're able to do more reviews then I'm all for it. The one slight negative is that as you aren't used to reading a script while filming, it sometimes looks like you are staring into the middle distances rather than talking to us, however, that is something that will become more natural overtime and practices. Overall this a great start to a new format.

Hey there! I just watched finished watching, and I have to say, I loved the new format! It's great to see you continuing to review books despite the poor performance of book reviews on your channel. Your honest and detailed reviews of Night Angel Nemesis, Blame, and 1984 were really helpful, and I'm looking forward to the series deep dive on Night Angel Nemesis. I also appreciate your candidness about Warhammer 40K and The Passenger. Keep up the great work, and I'm excited to see more of your monthly reading wrap-ups!

Thank you for the video Daniel Greene. "Already just a few weeks after finishing the three books, suffering from massive brain fog for me." Perception is a different animal for each of us. Different from moment to moment, and from personal version to personal version. A lot of that is our process. But it's also things like baggage, objectives, wiring, etc. Notably, it can be interesting to review and define an individual's perception configuration(s), through comparing things like their processes and takeaways vs. others (including themselves at other times). Calibration. But mileage for such things will vary, as with so many other things.

The 40K universe is better than any of the fiction I’ve found written for it. The short stories in the rule books and side material are fascinating. But GW won’t let their characters be dynamic enough for me. Lutein09’s KZread vids are the ideal way to experience it imho.
