Legend is a stunning novel, especially for a debut novel. Gemmell wrote it after being diagnosed with cancer. He had always wanted to write a novel and it motivated him to do it finally. Later on he discovered that it was a false diagnoses and he didn't have cancer after all. I could not give it a higher recommendation. There's a pretty big time jump between this one and the next in the series so it does read like a standalone.

Tomorrow is another day.
Hodgson's "The House on the Borderland" is a great cosmic horror book (and predates most of Lovecraft's works). Hope you enjoy it!--but just prepare yourself, it really goes off the rails in the back half.

Yeah it sounds cool
Read nine Scalzi books, you should look into redshirts and lock-in, some Crouch vibes. Collapsing Empire was a awesome space sci-fi series. Not started Old man’s war yet.

I own Old Man's War so I thought I'd start there.
If you read Gone with the Wind this summer I will definitely join in. I'm named after the farm in the book and I've never read it.

I’ve had some issues with shipping for The Witcher Orbit hardcover series but so far I’ve got 6 of 8 with the last two on the way and I’m up to midway through Blood of Elves which is my favorite so far, conversions between a few of the characters on a wagon have had me cracking up openly 😅 I did pick up The Folk Lore cycle by John Hood that I will be reading next which is based around the American Revolution with fantasy elements, they came with a couple nice inscriptions from the author so I’m looking forward to reading these and then jumping into the First Law Trilogy.

The translation is weird.
I just finished Malice by John Gywnne and I really liked it. The characters. The animal companions. But I definitely saw some similarities between Malice and the first book that I read from Ryan Cahill Of Blood and Ruin. I feel more invested in Malice. I liked the writing slightly better in Malice as well as the characters, but I do want to keep going with the bound and the broken series. I actually saw some similarities in Brian Lee Durfee’s series as well.

Love Faithful & the Fallen. So that's a high measuring stick.
YESSSSSS DAVID GEMMELL
I legit finished reading The Kaiju Preservation Society by Scalzi when this video came up, it was a really fun read. Also my nickname, my fam used to call me Kajuś as I'm Polish and my name is Kasia so the term kina stuck with me for ages anyways and I do love me my monsters and sea creatures :P
Mike try Dragon Mage by ML Spencer. The hero of the story is on the spectrum.
Sandersons Tress isnt a Novella its a full book actually. Kaiju Preservation Society has been out for a little while /2022

Have you read the Lewis' Space Trilogy? It's quite the ride. I've read some of Scalzi's short stories (METAtroplus & Dispatchers series)- enjoyed all. Loved the new shirts!

I think I tried when I was younger right after Narnia and it was too smart for me at that age. Should certainly try again.
I can't take any credit for the cover of Engines of Empire. Orbit will get very upset if I try.

Yeah kaiju preservation has been out for a while
What is a good starting point to get into the fantasy genre? I’m SO intrigued but, sometimes find them tricky to follow the storyline. Is there a good/easy to follow place to start? I do have Mistborn and Skyward on my shelf as well as Storm Front. What book would you hand somebody wanting to get into the genre? Thanks 👍

I bought the Kindle version of Eleventh Cycle after Petrick's review. I like the worlds of From Soft but the games just don't work for my casual ass. Question about the Kindle. Is there a particular case you recommend for the paperwhite

As a Phillies fan, your shirt does cause some unhappy feels. That said, I don’t hate the Astros, and I think a lot of the hate is silly at this point. 🤷♀️
