Been waiting years to see these types of heats again. I was so stoked back when they did a couple Masters heats and heritage but they quit or just never constantly. Now this year is shaping up to be incredibly entertaining with the Champions, friends and now Legends? Thank you WSL! Please keep it up this time! 🙏

well done WSL, fitting in the ledgends heat.... awesome commentary by all the team. great stories and humour. ron blakey is a diamond. LEGEND sydney surfers NOT there..... mark warren, terry fitz, simon anderson, pam burriage, cheyne horan, occy, matt cattle, pauline m, shane herring, layne beachley, barton lynch, etc. WSL, could we get surfers from all of the SYDNEY BASIN? a newcastle-cenral coast legends VERSES sydney-illawarra legends...? bring in MR, luke egan, matt hoy, mad-mad nicky wood, ace the surgeon.... etc. a special thanks to MARK WARREN for motivating-helping me (and so many other north shore people) get into surfing through collaroy surf shop and warringah shire councils learn to surf program...!

Wow my sister and I did one of the council's surf schools in the late 70s maybe 79? At collaroy surf club surfing powder puff point!! Mark Warren, Shane Stedman, Pam Burridge and others teaching. I was 16 and Pam was about 14 I think. I bought a vest off her. We only had hard shortboards to learn on and no one had much of an idea about teaching on those boards, not like surf schools now. My sister caught a wave and parked her board up this kid called Ernie's crack!! We were so dejected on the beach because we couldn't stand up on our little fibre glass boards but we cried laughing when my sister told me about her parking skills! wonderful memories and how good that the council sponsored it. Pam was a punk and a freakin legend. So much admiration for her. My mum bought me a Larry Berleman twin fin second hand for my 16th birthday which I think Larry surfed it in the comp around that time maybe Narrabeen - I sold it later for $400 when I was broke and it ended up in Hawaii sold for thousands a year later!. I'd paddle out at South Curl Curl and the boys would look at me in shock and say nothing. I was a 16 year old farm kid new to the northern beaches with no friends who surfed and gave up for quite a while but tried again later and so glad I did. I'm 60 now and surf most days on the north coast, thanks to Pam, Mark Warren and those beautiful waves!!
