Bonobos at Jacksonville Zoo
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
There were six bonobos in the group today at Jacksonville Zoo: three adult females, one adult male, and two juvenile males. One of the females is over fifty years old, making her the second-oldest bonobo in the world.

Thank you for posting this. There's surprisingly little footage of bonos here on KZread.

These guys are so much gentler than chimpanzees and have a different vocalisation, magnificent animals that don't deserve to be caged up
great video ❤️😊
Иногда такой сидит рядом с тобой в маршрутке, а ты и не заметишь
They really have a different vibe than that of chimps.

I have seen video of a female bonobo with breasts as big of as a woman. I read somewhere that a river has separated chimps from bonobos for millions of years not mixing together

It's completely different. Chimps fight to work out problems. Bonobos hump and cuddle it out.
Oftly aggressive for bonobos they're stressed for sure

This is pure torture for these beautiful creatures! They live, play, sleep, in the trees, there's not a single tree in sight! This is animal abuse, they are bored, anxious, and depressed! Humans SUCK!

And what, they get poached when they are free? Come on lady, zoos are here for a purpose, and MOST of them do help and give out donations to sanctuaries and animal movements. You can't just assume they are being tortured by their behavior. Some ape enclosures don't need trees. On the chance they do need a tree, they are usually surrounded by a body of water in some zoos, because some apes do have the physical capabilities to jump out of their enclosures and cause havoc. Besides, bonobos have human behavior like, I don't know, being bored in some times and walking and eating things alike.
I have seen a few videos on Bonobos in nature. This is first video I am seeing of Bonobos in captivity. I see a big difference in their behaviour especially aggressive behaviour and lack of sex. I wonder what happens if a bunch of humans are put in a big cage and every one is watching them and filming them?

They look so intelligent and evolved that it doesn’t seem right to have them caged in with people ogling them and laughing at them

Many zoos do a lot of good things for wildlife conservation and the people that visit help pay for it. Most zoo animals are rescued or born in the zoo and if it weren’t for the zoo they would probably be dead already and they certainly wouldn’t survive in the wild.
These are quite human.

Definitely. Their facial expressions are remarkably similar to humans. They remind me of us maybe even more than chimpanzees. Amazing animals for sure.

Bonobos make love not war.
Boy they look a lot different than the regular chimpanzees I think they look more like humans but they look so bored they need some enrichment out there a honeymound with the sticks or something. I thought they're supposed to be loving chimps that one seems to pick on that other one a lot

Они не худые. Бонобо в отличии от обычных шимпанзе стройные и вытянутые. Имеют более длинные задние конечности
It is sad that thier locked up like this. How boring thier lives must get unless they have other enclosures for them. They look very human like so when you watch them you can almost sense what they must be thinking
I hate to see them lock up like that it's sad they need to be free.💔💔😢

They seem very unhappy. No laughters or smiles. And I observed some aggressivity from some of them (orange bowl + banging on the glass). They acted more like chimps than actual Bonobos. Sad.
I agree that it's a shame the these wonderful beings are "caged" but they are caged because of human encroachment on their natural environment. Unfortunately it is the greed of humans that has put so many animals in need of "cages" to insure species survival. Ain't humanity swell??
They starving these joints in Jacksonville ! They skinny as all get out. While these animals are not usually fat they are muscular thick! They need more food!
