An update from the field from Héritier Mpo, our partner in the field, on a bonobo rescue in progress, September 2022.
Mpo directs the nonprofit APPACOL (Action for the Promotion of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities) in Sankuru province in the DR Congo. He frequently partners with Friends of Bonobos of the Congo to rescue bonobos and ensure their safe travel to Lola ya Bonobo sanctuary for treatment and long-term care.
Lola ya Bonobo is the only bonobo sanctuary and bonobo release site in the world. We save endangered bonobos and their rainforest home.

Thank you so much for dedication and love for these unique and beautiful animals ❤️ I cannot imagine the trauma and suffering she gone through. She would have only ever know love and affection until humans entered her and troops world. He are two humans who will show her that we humans can show love and compassion to her. I hope to see more of her recovery and journey❤
