    Beautiful kits. I think champagne / sandy for quite a few of those. Look lovely and healthy too, Bonnie is a great mum.

    @@ruralpestcontrol Happens to the best litters :( So hard when they're small, I've had similar experience in hamsters although they're very different animals. Sometimes you can't tell til it's too late.

    @@haleynorthpie6740 yeah I think they both had internal infections of some sort. One I found dead in the nest the next morning, and the other was more like a runt and was struggling with his back legs. I was feeding him separately to the rest and he was doing really well. Then overnight he just nose dived in condition and that was it 😔

    Just noticed something my baby ferrets are not even 2 weeks old yet and the colours are coming through loads and they are crawling about out the nest a little so we had to put a piece of wood so they can’t fall out the nest because our cage is like a chicken one

    Happy belated birthday 🎉 if there wasn't soo many irresponsible breeders or people who think it's necessary to breed a Jill when she's in season there would be no need for ferret rescues ☹️.

    Oh gosh, cute little sausages. Are which age do you consider them "adoption ready"? Like at which age do you notice the kits to distance themselves from the mother? I know in the US they sell them sometime at 5-6 weeks, which is far too young. In Canada here we can adopt the Canadian ferrets at 8 weeks only.

  • @ruralpestcontrol

    They shouldn't leave the mother no younger than 8 weeks.

    Hey bud. Any tips on introducing newly acquired kits to 3 adults? First introduction didn't go so well!

  • @ruralpestcontrol

    @ruralpestcontrol

    3 жыл бұрын

    Wait til they're all out of season. Then allow them to see and smell each other. You could swap their hutches over if you are keeping them separate and that way they can get to smell each without being in contact.

    Hi we are breeding for the first time our Jill had a litter of six sadly we have lost two! So down to 4 now! At two week they were all same size and being fed well by mum but there’s one that’s tiny & seems to be loosing the weight rather than putting it on would you take that one out and attempt to hand rear or let nature take its course Many thanks Laura

  • @ruralpestcontrol

    @ruralpestcontrol

    3 жыл бұрын

    personally I would leave it for a few days. If there is only four kits there should be more than enough teats and milk for it to feed and should have a good fighting chance. I have not hand reared them before so I'm not sure of what you would need and how often you would need to feed it etc.
