Whenever you see creators you respect hype up a #skincare product, you always gotta try it out! Bondi Sands' #sunscreen highlighted a lot of good points I like to see in sunscreens, but the most important part? It's only $7!!!

Loved that you talked about starting a patreon in your last video! You are so good at thoroughly educating and informing us. The most underrated channel EVER. Please keep linking your patreon in future videos :)
Using this for a few months now. Love it! Feels great on the skin. But I don't know much about ingredients and formulation that's why I needed this video. Thank you!
So happy to see this reviewed! Lucky to be an australian and this is readily available everywhere at our major grocery stores Will have to try it out and hope i finally find a sunscreen i dont have to get shipped in! 🤣 thanks for the review!!!
Thank you for this review Ramón 🤗 This is one of the few Australian sunscreens that are sell around the world and are actually available here in Australia. I use DAILY the “body lotion” formulation in my face and it’s absolutely amazing my favourite sunscreen that’s for sure! Almost same formulation and half of the price… highly recommend 💙🤗

Same ! I tried many different sunscreens but this one is definitely one that I love despite having an oily skin type, easily fixable with blotting/powdering.
Loovveee affordable sunscreen options. Yayyyyyy
I have this sunscreen and I love it, I have dry skin so I love moisturising "greasy" sunscreens.
Would you review some of the Ultraviolette Australian sunscreens? Thanks for being you, Ramón!
We love an affordable sunscreen 😍
Also… 4 hours water resistant is NORMAL for an Australian sunscreen!

i know this is old and you probably found a better sunscreen by now but all sunscreens make my eyes burn so bad no matter the formula, i don't know if you use makeup at all but a dusting on translucent powder around the eyes has prevented that for me! i hope you found a lovely sunscreen or at least this could help you too if you have very sensitive eyes like me
Ramon!!! You definitely need to try the neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense Face Serum spf 60!!! Its very comparable to the krave beauty beet shield and has great protection :)

Have you heard about Mantl sunscreen? I think it's really interesting since it's a clear gel and it's marketed specifically toward men.
Having tested literally dozens of Australian sunscreens (but not this one specifically), this sounds like the typical texture of a sport/active or face sunscreen in Australia. Cream-to-lotion application experience with a moisturising finish. This is a bit of an 'old fashioned' combo of filters for an Australian sunscreen. We actually have Tinosorb S, Tinosorb M, and Uvinul A Plus approved over here, and Tinosorb S in particular is quite common. I know in Australia, Bondi Sands sell a few products with Tinosorb S or Tinosorb M, although like you said, octocrylene is quite good at stabilising avobenzone. Also, I'm like 90% sure the smells you're noticing the most are the homosalate 10% + octisalate 5%. These are both described as having a characteristic, orchid-like or floral odour. My tip for finding a fragrance-free sunscreen with a more acceptable smell is to look for one that uses other solubilisers in place of homosalate and octisalate.

What's your recommendation for aussie sunscreens?
Love this sunscreen 😍
thank youuu this was helpfull
I am combination skin -dry in winter, oily in summer and since february I've only been using cerave hydrating cleanser and bondi sands fragrance free spf 50 and realised my pores seem quite larger after using these products. However when i used cerave cleamser alone my pores were barely visible but after applying this spf i feel it makes my pores visible especially when I'm outside... i cant find anyone else who also has had this issue before so honestly i dont even know what the real cause is but although i love this spf for the winter i think im going to drop it for summer -especially for the grease as well
@Siberius-
Жыл бұрын
Could that just be the shininess making the pores a lot more noticeable? this is why people with larger pores (like myself) like matte products that don't reflect the light and make the pores super visible. So with makeup and moisturiser this means going with silicone over oils, for example.
Ultra Violette is another Australian brand that is becoming quite popular.
Thank you for this, its so hard to find an affordable fragrance free spf in the uk, but I saw this in boots and thought I might try it out!

One thing I have to say is that my skin has never been flaky, dry, and tight when using this in the Winter. I get great protection. It is borderline too shiny though. It helps if you blot it with a paper towel a little after the 1st half hour. I mainly use this on my neck and ears now due to me trying out other sunscreen
I tried the body one (on my face and body) and I really didn’t like it. I live in Cairns QLD, Australia, where it’s very humid and it did not work for me at all. It was extremely greasy and stays greasy for hours!! It smells like a classic “at the beach” sunscreen, despite it being fragrance free. However, it worked well under my makeup, but I did have to reapply powder more than usual to keep the oils at bay. Not the worst sunscreen I’ve ever used, but it just doesn’t work in this muggy weather 😞

As a chemist/formulator, I would love to hear your take on coral reef safe sunscreens that are also brown skin friendly. 4:43 Also, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Bondi Sands website list benzyl alcohol as part of the ingredients list. I am no chemist/formulator though, so I yield to your expertise on this one ✌️✌️✌️
3 жыл бұрын
Super good point! Benzyl alcohol is different than the standard ethanol/denatured alcohol I meant when I mentioned alcohol, since that's what's normally used in sunscreens as a solvent and penetration enhancer. Benzyl alcohol is used in very nominal amounts (~1%), and functions primarily as a preservative agent, and even a fragrant ingredient. Alcohols in themselves are a very diverse ingredient group (I did a video kind of touching on this), where humectants such as glycerin, and emollient fatty alcohols also fall under the alcohol categories.

@@Latte-girly90 LOL because of lack of awareness and laziness. It was until a lot of people were getting cancer they had this massive sun protection massive campaign back in the 80/90s. Kids at school are not even allowed to play during recess/break if they're not wearing protective hats. A lot of beauty brands cannot sell sunscreens claiming spf 50 without the TGA Australia's testing and approval. SO, Paula's Choice spf 50 cannot be labelled spf 50 because our TGA hasn't approved it so they have to label it spf 15. Also, Australian sun is very harsh and it burns.
