I thought it was her...a real beauty!!!!!!
She was so pretty on this episode and I genuinely shipped her and little Joe so bad! I wanted them two to be together especially after all the hardship that poor girl had been through. Little Joe had to understand he was her only real friend and kind to her, heck I would have fell in love with him myself!
Bonanza another great show.
This Episode is so related to Broken Blosoms played by Lillian Gish.

Little Joe's father tries to warn him. Little Joe doesn't deal appropriately with the inevitable transference Annie makes, and so he overreacts. Obviously, Little Joe has issues of his own.

Joe is young, hot-headed and sometimes foolish. But he's a good man with a heart of gold. He genuinely wanted to help the girl because he could see how unhappy she was. He needed his father's good sense and guidance. As the years go by Joe does mature, but he's still extremely young here.
