Bonafide RVR 119 Seat Risers Solve 3 BIG ISSUES!!!

In this video I am testing out a set of seat risers for the Bonafide RVR 119 from 3DYAK.COM. We all know seat risers are made to raise the seat to provide a little more comfort for the kayaker, however, in the case of the RVR, the seat riser solved 3 BIG ISSUES. The first one is obviously comfort, but the other 2 are big deals to me as well. I go over the install as well as the additional benefits the seat risers offer when installed on the Bonafide RVR 119.
Risers will be able to be purchased from 3DYAK.COM.

Thank you! I'm a Bonafide dealer and have owned a RVR since April. I've been fooling around with the same ideas and trying to find a good fix.

Yea man I am pretty excited about them. I feel like I am getting my RVR really honed in now. I have a few more tweaks to make and then it I think it will almost be perfect for me.

The RVR boat does not have " big issues". This mod is great for you and probably for a lot of people. By all means make your boat your boat. I'm in fast water a lot of the time. I'm not tall. I like the seat where it is. If the RVR had come with a high seat from the factory, I might well be in a Cresent or a Jackson boat.

Agreed. Each person likes what they like. Not for all, but I know a ton of folks that want the great features of the RVR but they are coming from the perspective of the SS 127, which a lot of people bought for its comfortable high seat as well as great stability and functionality. These are the same folks that said they will not move to the RVR because they don't want to give up that seat. That was the main audience that this was directed at.

Nice mod. I have the SS127 and considered the RVR, but I'm hoping maybe they will make a version 2 with the SS seat. Or perhaps make the V2 as a 10 foot version with the SS series seat. When I hit the streams, I love how I can easily pull my SS127 seat out and use it as a beach chair or camp chair during over night floats. With the RVR, I'd have to make a bracket or something to protect those leg stubs if I want to use it on a gravel bar. The SS series seat is what separates the Bonafide from the competitors. I don't get why they don't put it in all their boats.

Yes that seat on the SS makes all the difference. Putting these risers and using that Cottonwood Outdoors cushion I use puts me at the right height so it feels just as comfortable in the RVR as it does in the SS127, but you are right, you are not just gonna be able to pop it out and use it like a camp chair - which is a brilliant idea by the way!

The low seat would seem to be for the lower gravity position in riffles.......@@BooneDownSouth

@@traildust92 Oh yea no doubt about that. As I mentioned in the video, I wouldn't necessarily recommend hitting class 3 rapids with the seat risers in place due to that reason. I will say I have had mine through some class 2 rapids with the seat risers with no issues though. The seat risers give you options though for sure.

So I got the risers and like them, however I now have a clearance issue for the rear anchor wizard and the seat. I am using the gear track and planning on using a throttle on the pad. Where do u put the rear anchor wizard or don’t you use one?

I don't use a rear anchor wizard, I like to turn around in to the current. So the riser is in the way of the handle on the rear anchor wizard?

Yes, I’m going to move it to the front plate and it will work. However I wanted to put a throttle there when I get a motor next year. So I’m going to have to rethink things

@@vincegreenland1 Vince just so I understand correctly the situation, if you use the pad on the left side of the seat for the rear anchor wizard you have clearance, but if you use the gear track for the anchor wizard is when you have the problem? If my understanding is correct, then I am guessing without the seat risers on, the knob you turn on the anchor wizard on the gear track turns just above the seat I guess? But once you put the risers on, the handle probably hits the seat? Is that what is going on? I just want to make sure I understand the issue because I want to let 3DYAK no so he can put something on site about it so folks know.

@@BooneDownSouth yes. I never had an issue with the rear wizard but did with the front. After raising the seat it now hits the seat and making it useless. I moved it to the front plate this morning and appears to work.
