They are EFFECTIVELY a colony of ours that we allowed to self-govern. To lose Israel is to be at a severe economic disadvantage against powers like China who are also in the region. That, in theory, is why the US puts up with this nightmare. The only coercion Netanyahu has over the US is putting Biden in an extremely unenviable position politically. Simply for Palestinians to "move" is NOT EASY: 1- injured Palestinians, elderly, amputees, cannot migrate kilometres walking. 2- Moving belongings whilst injured, walking for kilometres, is not easy. 3- being extremely hungry, malnourished, thirsty, then migrating for kilometres, is what you only see in survival movies! 4- the dangers of ex pl0sives, attacks, is a real threat. 5- walking in very hot weather. I often think about how difficult it would be to walk those distances with an infant or small children. Small children cannot understand the dire circumstances and might need to be carried. Well, Israel broke the Camp David Accords that were signed by both countries in 1979 which was demilitarization in the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt's side and Rafah from Israel's side. Invading Rafah is a declaration of War on Egypt but still Egypt is restraining themselves to avoid an all-out war in the Middle East.

Also reparations. Germany paid reparations to the Jews relatives of Holocaust victims, and if none were found to Israel itself for years, then UK also helped a lot, now since 1970s US has pumped insane amounts of money into Israel (as economic and military aid). Israelis should feel regret for every intentionally bombed residential building, every school, university, hospital, bakery, that they destroyed. They should be forced to pay for it all, and that's not enough anyway because of the human lives cost and children trauma and malnourishment that will permanently alter their lives. All those amputees. Israel should really feel deep regret for its actions for decades before October 7 and for its actions in the last 7 months.

Never understood, why the US vote carried so much weight in the UN, meaning without their yes vote nothing happened. Can't go on like this, over 140 countries voted for Palestinians to be included in the UN but the US vote cancels them out??

Israel WANTED the attack, that's why they ignored the warning not only from the Egyptians, but from IDF soldiers who observed the maneuvers of militants training for the attack. Israel also moved soldiers from the Gaza border into the West Bank making it more enticing for Hamas. I believe that Netanyahu underestimated the size of the Hamas attack and the unfettered reaction of IDF soldiers that resulted in the deaths of untold Israeli citizens.

It’s not about balls , they have their primary interests. Their people care but the leaders have ambitions and they are quite mad because for some their ambitions require things from the U.S which demented normalization with Israel.

Tbh he is a bit right in the sense, that yes the Egyptian government does not want Palestinians. BUT government =/= people And the only reason the government does not want them is because Egypt is highly unstable and the Palestinians are aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood, which are enemies of the Egyptian government. So two things: 1. This is a PR move for its Palestinian-sympathetic population. 2. It fears that the will be forced to take the Palestinians refugees and they for sure don't want that. So they want to stop Israel from destroying the Palestinians last "safe" (not actually safe obviously) refuge.

The US was part of the Camp David Accords in 1978 and gained some important concessions from it. I think that fly over rights for the Sinai Peninsula are one of the things the US got. Regardless, the Accords being weakened is against US interests, and has been sacrificed for Israel, who sent no one to Afghanistan or Iraq to help the US. The control of the border was part of a peace treaty and Israel taking control of the crossing is a massive breach of that treaty. They won't go to war, but Egypt has to do something to save face, since Israel crossed a red line and broke terms of a peace treaty with Egypt.

How can the world allow this genocide?
