I remember I was in Rome and there was a torrential downpour. Summer storm. We ran downstairs to a little bakery and they were serving these warm with gelato over them. Ohhhh...... I weep.
These look AMAZING! They're very similar to a doughnut eaten during Hanukkah, called "sufganiyah." We fill them with jelly or custard and dust the top with powdered sugar.

I just made them and, I don't know if it's just me, but I was able to re-work the dough. With 2 cups of flour, I managed to make 13 Bomboloni!! Thanks for this recipe!! I'll make it again on Saturday to impress my friends!!
