The best way i can explain the game is compare it to another 2006 reboot game sonic 06 But the problem is that Act Zero doesnt have a "so bad it can be funny" feel Act zero is "its bad and thats sad"

Actually, Thor's origins in the comics were pretty similar to how he was adapted in the MCU: the main difference is that, instead of simply being banished on Earth for his arrogance, he was reincarnated into Donald Blake, a normal human with a limp so he could learn humility by living with a disability. His Donald Blake identity was only referenced in the first movie because, like with many other movie superheroes, it was a mix between Thor's mainstream and Ultimate incarnations, the latter of which didn't have a secret identity.

Funnily enough, a streamer did use to play this game online a bunch. Their name was Protonjon, and their Bomberman league was pretty popular, though they haven't played it in years.

Ah yes, Bomberman Act Zero. I remember my first memories of this game was through Armake21's review of the game. Absolutely bashed the game apart and then pissed on it :P

I think I know of a way this game could've been saved: at the end, show that the entire game you've been playing is actually a movie being watched--and criticized--by the REAL Bomberman.

Oh my God thanks for talking about this game. I remember this. The funny part is this isn't even the last time the Bomberman Series got a bizarre makeover. They also got "Bombergirl" where the entire Bomberman cast were reimagined as cute anime girls in various anime-styled ridiculous short-cut outfits.

It almost wasn't the first time, Atomic Bomberman has deleted voice clips with a ton of profanity.

I don't know if anyone commented this already, but mattmcmuscles made a whuhappen on this. Apparently, Japan stereotypes North Americans as much as we stereotype Asians. The difference however, is that when we try to make something similar to Asian entertainment, we actually try to be respectful (even if it doesn't always work out), study which Asian market we're going for and make the art style similar to what they make. The developers of this admitted that they just based act zero off of prejudices they had on the US consumer.

The game that almost killed the Bomberman franchise and the game that started the downfall of Konami.

@@austinreed7343 Ay ! I'm one year late but I wanna share my perspective Played the game myself and... I'd say konami is literally just committing commercial suicide with R2 (cause gameplaywise, let's face it, it's just recycled R online) so the only thing they could market is story mode... Story mode that I genuinely find it as an improvement over the first story so if you want to play it for an at least decent story, I would recommend ! The bonds with the siblings are shown more, the villain is pretty great too ^^ Gameplay wise, can't deny it is again, recycled R Online with castle mode that can be, for lack of a better word... eh. R1 did well commercially and despite the lukewarm -and understandable- critics, so my only guess is that R2 would have been commercially doing well if R Online didn't exist... cause all I am seeing is once again, Konami committing commercial suicide with this game that isn't that bad at all In other words I think this game can be seen as a better buy than R1 depending of why are you buying this game for or depending of who you ask but poorly advertized. Like I wasn't aware there was a sequel to Bomberman R until a few months ago (october) also sorry for text blocks ^^"

@@austinreed7343 Buggler did return once, but as much as I love him I wish he was a character, who knows ? Maybe he will eventually come back. For now I genuinely love Fusell and I find him pretty much well written! Maybe the comeback I might be waiting for is potentially the four bomber kings... and maybe Buggler

Zero is the amount of happiness you will get with this game.

Not gonna lie, I have a soft spot for gritty stuff, especially in video games. But, this ain't it Chief. Something this overly simple shouldn't be called Bomberman. At least there was context for when Shadow The Hedgehog used a gun.

What an insane game. Its one thing to make a dark gritty reboot but for frigs sake why make it suck too?! It just makes no sense what so ever and shows the devs didnt give a shit about what they were making. That blog post was also uh...something lol. Thanks for the video! :)

Oof, Act zero was pretty rough, I'm not going to lie. I did kind of enjoy it (but then again I also enjoy WCW Backstage Assault, so what do I know?) Also, Wasn't Hudson Soft involved with the Deca Sports games to some extent or am I misremembering that?

When will they know reboots don't prosper...? Among the many other things that make their industry some of the worst to deal with from fanbase POV, this is Japan for you...

Also, I think it's good that you have an Xbox 360 Jadow, not only did you miss out on a lot of PS3 and Xbox 360 games, but you have been reviewing a lot of Xbox 360 games that you originally could not play.

That comment of about how releasing a fighting game with only a survival mode on release would be funny... If games like Street fighter V didn't pull a stunt exactly like that just so they could get the sales early before actually completing their damn game. Fighting games (specially capcom ones) get away with way too much shit.

Honestly, from the trailer, I feel like they wanted to do a First-Person Mode but probably had to drop it because they were given no development time.

Im i the only one who wished the name "Bomberman" was just a coincedence for this game and is not connected to my childhood series? We all do? Okay then. This is still one of my most hated games of all time for it and it made me wished Hudson still worked with nintendo (see how they wanted bomberman to be on the switch with R i had hoped the company was looking at buying him)

As someone who's part Czech...touche lol. Slav Jank games are pretty common but also I guess the indie look and feel has it's own charm that gives it a bigger pass than a bigger company with a much bigger budget and labor force.

I didn't mean that as a slam against Czech, I meant that as a slam against Konami who outsourced the last mainline Silent Hill game to a Czech dev nobody had heard of.

My favorite Bomberman game has to go with Bomberman hero n64 because he can jump unlike the Bomberman 64 that he can not jump

I think it's the 2010s and 2020s where god awful reboots were more preasent. (Ghostbusters (2016) and The Predator.)

Honestly the aesthetic part of the game seams pretty cool actually, I mean it’s a bit edgy but it looks pretty cool, i think with adjustments this could’ve been an actually good like spin off non canon game.

It is unfairly difficult, the developers didn't want a normal person to have the patience and luck to beat it.

I think most of the design 'decisions' that made this game can pretty much be summed up as "People love Metroid Prime, people want more Metroid Prime, let's make our franchise into Metroid Prime and turn Bomberman into Samus Aran, that will definitely work, I am genus!!!". Also, the (ironically childish) mentality of that 'you're playing with baby toys' blog post was the EXACT line of thinking that brought us the 3DO and Atari Jaguar. Let that seep in for a moment.

Speaking of silent hill? any chance to review the shitty western SH or the HD collection?

I think that blog post was ironic.

@@Darklordjadow1 well, to be fair, SEGA brings back old IPS like fantasy star and Streets of Rage 4 and is more laxed with fan made games especially Sonic.

@18:49= your impression of the late Ultimate Warrior so made me wish you had an Xbox Series or a ONE instead of a 360 so you could, in the future, review what's been considered by us fans of Sports-Entertainment/Wrestling games to be the WORST wrestling game ever (second only to "ECW Anarchy Rulz" and the true worst, "WCW Backstage Assault")= "WWE2K20"... although it's also on Steam and, I can tell you from personal experience, it's far worse there! hell, I wish I knew a way to let you borrow my digital copy for reviewing it and warn others of how low that series had dropped; although the upcoming 2K22 looks hella promising; but the damage was done and I feel should be exposed as a warning!

I'm guessing that to be the best/only alternative right now to procure a copy of "Strider Returns" for the Genesis/MegaDrive! so far (that I know of) only 2 English-speaking KZread-faring game reviewers had tackled it: Kim Justice and BlondeGuyGaming... a travesty like that game should not be allowed to be forgotten, and I believe YOU to have the sufficient fury to expunge the bastard that almost killed the Strider franchise!

I've beaten a lot of bomberman games probably more then 75% of them but yeah I don't even want to attempt this one. 99 levels with one life is insane. Imo a lot of bomberman games are quite boring outside of the boss fights (2D that is). The best 2D (grid based) bomberman I have ever played is super bomberman 2 Snes. It has the best level design and doesn't look like all of the other 2D games do .

Don't forget Aliens Colonial Marines.

Well it's simple during the 7th generation of consoles most japanese game companies were struggling specially Hudson soft who most of their games were selling horrible so they decide to make reboot of their most popular franchise and make it appeal to the american gamers who liked games like CoD thinking the game would be a smash hit. it wasn't, not only did the game not appeal to those kind of gamers, the game also made the fans extremely pissed off because of the this edgy direction to the series that nobody wanted

Act Zero is a terrible game. I feel the need to start this comment with that. But I still feel as tho, taken as a spin off and if marketed, managed, and developed better, it could have been an interesting concept. Bomberman didn't need to be gritty, but sometimes being bold and in some cases stupid with your decision making when creating a product intended for entertainment can and has turned out some of the more entertaining games in the past. Even bad games. I mean c'mon, how many videos have you seen talking about Ride to Hell? If it were just another bland, pretty bad open world motorcycle driving game with generic Arkham combat, no one would talk about it ever. But it's the almost interesting ways in which it IS bad that make it fun to talk about. Act Zero is... Kind of that lmao It tried to be that, I should say

I really hate it that beloved video game companies butcher their franchises becuase they view western audiences as lovers of dark and gritty bs, when it's not true. Now this is where Konami went downhill before the straw that broke the camel's back in 2015, for what they done to Kojima.

Since you mentioned iron man you gotta check out this hilariously awful rip-off iron man movie called metal man it is bad my friend

the boob physics were the only good thing about this game and to be honest other games do it better plus they are also fun

They were still superheroes liberating machine planets in Bombermans 93 and 94; SBR just had nicer cutscenes that I wanted to use to illustrate it.
