    Keep 'em coming! I was in the second class of Captains for Q400 checkout. Retired in 2003 at age 60.

    These videos are amazing! I love the raw un-edited, non-voice over cockpit videos. Feels like I'm there in the cockpit and not watching a dramatized movie. Keep it up!

    Another amazing film, well done! Looks like the FO was the PF for the first leg and the captain was PF for the second.

    FSX737Pilot X thanks!! Yes, that’s correct for who flew each leg. Additionally, if you notice, they both have four stripes (they are both Captains). The pilot in the right seat was getting trained to be a Line Check Pilot by the guy on the left. It was a great flight as it was flown by some very senior people from our training department.

    We were a day late getting into Bozeman (WX or mechanical I don't remember) and Tom Brokaw was on the outbound flight and was not happy. I told him that my Mother never missed watching him on the news and that seemed to smooth his feathers. My ace in the hole was to tell him that I was a South Dakota boy, too.

    Good camera work, lots of nice shots. But the video needs some commentary, some conversation, some kind of explanation of what's going on sometimes. Like what was the occasion for two captains to be flying together here, for instance.

    WHAT THE HELL IS THAT RATTLING???

  • @gordons2439

    @gordons2439

    It's the chains inside the control columns. The Q400 is a high wing with a long main gear extending from the engine nacelles. The flex in the airframe as you hit bumps in the taxiway make the yoke move around as if you were moving the ailerons. With full flaps, you get some turbulence across the T-tail which gives you a similar rattle in the elevator.

    Hi JackS and other Q pilots here.... Do u watch ut PilotEmilie flies Westjet FO? She has some vids her channel kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZIOjt7CdZ67gZJM.html ( can see landing at: 5:52 ) Is this bs or true - she says they're ( pilots) trained to land or approach by looking at instruments..vs outside even at 100' coming in over rw. . ?? like wth? ... You can see her eyes from camera angle looks very much watchingstaring inside at instruments like a lot until just before flare... seems odd.. not standard practicr at all. Is that how they train pilots nowadays? .. just asking. only a PPL was always taught opposite esp in landing phase gonna be looking outside cockpit for touch and feel so on.
